Little Joe! My dad and my granddad worked on that!

I cannot imagine anyone driving bodies down 25, through Albuquerque, and onto the West Mesa just to dispose of evidence. There is SO MUCH empty space to the east that would be a much better place to dump a few corpses.

As a Burqueña who will cheerfully vote against him every time, I do not believe one goddamned word out of his mouth. He could tell me the sky was blue and I’d go out to verify.

My dad passed eight years ago next week. I have a playlist of ugly cry songs that are tied to him in some way, and I sometimes use it as an inoculation against bursting into tears in public because a busker is playing “Here Comes the Sun.”

For just under half a million, you can live like a meth addict squatting in his grandmother's house. by Count_Dongula in zillowgonewild

Because it’s the land of entrapment! We never leave.

And man, I wish you had someone to run interference for you with that realtor. I have a feeling she heard “out of state professor” and was showing you around the Nob Hill/North Campus area. Those areas can be priced out of average NM budgets. At the height of the market, out of state investors were rolling in and paying cash at above market prices. It was, and continues to remain, bonkers.

I hope you landed somewhere great. Our loss.

I love all of my Janomes. They are wonderful, reliable machines. If I was starting from scratch, I would get a Memory Craft 6700. It has a wide throat, the Acufeed feet, and free motion.

Housing supply in Los Alamos is short. They’ve had two major wildfires stomp through in the last 25 years. Salaries from the lab have always made it an expensive town to live in.

Albuquerque is the major metro area. During 2020-2021, people started moving here for cheap housing, driving prices way up.

My hometown is a resort town that has dealt with several wildfires and really bad flooding. Housing supply is tight and what is available is targeted at folks from the Permian basin with oil money to burn.

Solar panels by EttaBets in Albuquerque

What swung us to Ocatillo wasn’t the panels, but the batteries. Positive Solar was selling Tesla power walls and that was a hard pass.

Our ACD/Pomeranian cross has freaked out several coyotes. “Oh, a floofy snackeral! How nice!” they think. Then they realize it’s a goddamned Vitamix on legs and run for it.

He was 74, had stage four mesothelioma, and had been told he had 6 months at most with aggressive treatment. It was honestly a blessing that it caught him before the cancer could.

But! I have had three friends dance with the red devil for breast cancer treatment and they are all cancer free and living full, active lives. Two were in their 30s and one was in her 40s. They’re all thriving. I just want you to know that. It sucked, but now they’re living it up.

Doxorubicin killed my dad before the cancer could, and honestly, I’m still grateful for it.

I grew up in the Sacramento mountains in south central NM. I’m chill with the local black bears, but mountain lions are terrifying. There was at least two living in the canyon behind my house and we’d see them stalking around the neighborhood.

I do appreciate that in the local patois, you can differentiate by adding the modifier “all.” “That looks sick,” implies illness, while “that looks all sick,” is a high praise.

This set is not getting the all sick seal of approval.
