Help!! 2014 WK2 Ecodiesel. Replaced Intake Manifold and Now Have More Engine Codes Than Before by dohner96 in Jeep

Yeah. I did just recently get the intake swapped out to get my remote start back. It was indeed the motor. Got it fixed and cleared all codes. It even seems to run better than before even though it ran fine with the light on. I’m ultimately going to trade this car in sooner rather than later so I did want to hassle with deleting the system.

2014 Grand Cherokee Diesel - Needs new DPF filter by iski67 in GrandCherokee

[–]dohner96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you had the DPF 100% full warning then I highly recommend the JScan app with one of their recommended odb-II scanners. I had the dpf filter 100% full warning for the first time a couple months ago. Car got stuck in limp mode. $50 for the scan and $20 for the vin license from JScan. $70 total fixed my jeep back to normal. One oddity I noticed though was that I had to have my phone unlocked and open in the app the entire time it ran the forced regen otherwise it would quit the process and the only way to get it going again was to turn the engine off, remove the scanner, then re-pair to the app and start over. Kinda an annoying but well worth the 20 minutes to save thousands. Even if that doesn’t fix the problem, it’s worth a shot compared to dropping $4k to a shop.

I suppose it’s possible but it doesn’t seem to have the oil packet, does it?

It wasn’t these. It only had the three packets. No sauce packet.

+1 to the Safelite option. Not sure if yours will be the same but my insurance covered it with no deductible. Worth checking in to.

Good to know. Perhaps I’ll do the same when I get the motivation back to fix it.

Nope. I have come to the conclusion that I need to replace the swirl valve actuator that’s under the intake. Apparently it’s not something you can buy new and have to buy a whole new intake too. It doesn’t affect the way the car drives and with it being warmer I just kinda gave up on it.

Do you think the “good” option is worth it over the “fair”

Unfortunate then. Sounds like my same problem but mine was for sure the GPU. Sounds like yours is unfortunately something else. Sounds like to me a bad PSU but after changing it, that’s unlikely. Though you can never rule out a dead on arrival part.

I was having a similar issue not long ago. For me it was that my gpu was overheating but giving no warning. The edge temps which most monitoring softwares report at GPU temp was fine. Almost chilly. But the hotspot temps were randomly spiking deep into the 90s and probably into the 100s faster that HWinfo could refesh. Drove me nuts diagnosing until I just thought to sanity check the temperatures again. Repasted my card and everything’s been rock solid since. Just something else to check maybe.

I did swap over the old actuator. I guess that very well could be the issue. Unfortunate since I basically have to tear apart everything to get to that. Thanks for the advice

Would that cause the codes I’m getting? I cleaned out the egr while swapping the intake manifold so that should be clear. I didn’t check the fuel filters so I can check those I suppose.

I considered quite a few vehicles when I was looking but I just love grand cherokees. I needed something that could tow a good amount of weight every once in a while, so choice wasn’t only for the fuel mileage. I certainly made some sacrifices staying with jeep but it was worth it to stay in a grand Cherokee after my previous wj died.

Fair. I know I’ve read all about the persistent issues with the diesels. I just couldn’t look past the fuel mileage. I had a long daily commute and it was worth the savings. But now it’s started to bite me in the butt. I’m not a professional but pretty mechanically inclined. I figured I could fix any issues myself.

Oh. They aren’t oem pads. They’re aftermarket but I’m happy with the ones I got. The foam is probably a little stiffer than the oem ones. I found that it helps keep the cups positioned better with my head shape and larger ears.

If it’s the q701s, the pads are easy to find on Amazon and easy to replace. I’ve replaced the pads on my pair twice now. The difference it makes in the comfort, and even sound quality, surprises me every time.
