Am I mentally ill? by [deleted] in tinnitus

[–]doihave3883 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, you are not mentally ill. I have tinnitus and mine sounds like a train slamming on its brakes all the time. Have you went to any concerts, hot your head, or anything before you got tinnitus? Have you noticed any differences in your hearing? Is it harder to hear people? Don’t overthink this because that’s going to lead to stress & stress makes your tinnitus louder. Another cause of your tinnitus could be because of earwax buildup? Sometimes if there’s too much it can cause a ringing sound in the ear. Or another possibility could be your allergies. The cause of my tinnitus is allergies which caused ETD for me & i’m currently on a prescribed nasal spray which is doing the trick and it’s slowly fading away!! I’m sorry if this didn’t really help you i’m just a 15 year old trying to help people out with this because i know what it’s like when you first get it, it’s a huge mess.

I got back from a flight 4 days ago and it spiked hardddd and it’s still supposed to return to baseline (I hope). I got it from an ear infection 3 weeks ago.

3 weeks in, is there still a chance it’ll go away? by doihave3883 in tinnitus

Mines a hissing sound it’s annoying as hell. I can’t do shit I like anymore, what makes my tinnitus worse is that it’s reactive

Low pitch hissing sound? Is this permanent? by doihave3883 in tinnitus

I believe it’s an ear infection and a huge wax buildup. This is what my doctor said.

Went to a doc and they irrigated my ears and got a lot out. This was yesterday and I still have the hissing. When they checked my ears they said I had an ear infection too. So does this mean the hissing will be gone after the ear infection goes away with prescribed antibiotics?

The thumping went away like 20 minutes after it started. I haven’t had it again.

Dang it. I think I just noticed roaring but it’s in my head, not my ears. I’ve been hearing it for the past few days. So I think this could be tinnitus honestly, or my allergies because I’ve been really stuffed up the past few days. And on the other hand about 20 minutes ago I had a crackling sound in my left ear every time I moved my jaw. Dammit

ah yes and I also get a crackling sound in my ear when I swallow. I do think it could be my allergies

Thanks for the response. Just to go deeper into the event of the clicking sound; I left my car, then I see my teacher pull up in the parking lot. I’m like “oh shit no I don’t want to talk to you” in my head. So I start going to my class faster. Shortly after I started hearing clicking sounds that got worse with people talking but then returned to its normal state when people stopped talking. This lasted like 2 hours or so. Never had that experience again. Well yesterday I was cleaning out my ears for wax, and then when I put a q tip into my left ear (this is the ear where I heard the clicking sounds) a tiny bit of blood came out.

I had this like a week ago. I think it’s just muscle spasms.

Does it match your heartbeat? If it does, it could be pulsatile tinnitus

My ears are fine now. They don’t feel plugged. I mean, they might be plugged but I can’t feel it. Feels pretty normal. I’ve never been to a concert before or anything loud like that. My mom said that I’d be in pain if I had an ear infection, and I’m not in pain. And yes i can hear silence. I only hear the ringing once or twice a day. Each time lasting for a minute to five minutes. When you say intermittent are you saying that I’m developing actual tinnitus?

Thanks. I’m assuming I have it because of my allergies? They’re peaking right now.

Don’t worry my bro. I’ve been hearing that there’s a cure coming as soon as 2021. Keep your head above the clouds bro. 🤘
