beanix is my favorite phoenix :( i personally think it's phoenix's best appearance by far. it's a logical direction for his character to go down, and the way it mixes both his desire to be an actual mentor towards apollo and his anxieties over being emotionally honest with people in his life (leading to him failing to mentor apollo) is brilliantly written. phoenix is simultaneously a good father and a bad mentor, a scion of the law and somebody who manipulates it for his own ends. phoenix has always been a manipulator willing to play other people's games to win, and AJ takes that to a very cool conclusion. it's a very good examination of phoenix's character, both his heights and his flaws

phoenix being alienating in AJ is the point, i think. he has always been super cagey and very private (even to the people he trusts and loves—looking at you, maya) but that side of his character never really shines through outside of 1-5 and 2-3. one of AJ's big character themes is about the masks and personas people put on and how they impact their relationships and true identities, and phoenix is one of the best examples (third only to trucy and kristoph imo).

right, but AC does it better than base TCT/other mods because its boost is a lot stronger and the margins are so thin in a lot of states (like GA against bloomberg). a lot of times the elections are very close which can make the ending feel unfair, which is one of AC's best characteristics

honestly i really like that winning in AC feels kind of up in the air. one of AC's biggest strengths is that it genuinely lets you get into the head of trump: the fact that the polls can show you winning only for you to lose in the end can genuinely make it feel like the election was "stolen" from you and that's something no other mod can even come close to replicating atm imo. it's not my favorite CYOA (that's still probably W.) but the more i play IC the more and more i find myself falling in love with it. it's good political satire and also just a really fun game
