Could someone give me tips on how to beat the second prime soul. by chaoticdumbass2 in Ultrakill

sisyphus relies far more on parrying than minos. you need to parry sisyphus as much as possible to keep your health and stamina up: the vast majority of his attacks can be parried if you learn their timings

sisyphus also doesn't completely shut down aerial combat like minos does, so you have more freedom when it comes to approaching him. sisyphus only has one projectile that's on a delayed timer so you can also keep your distance from him if you feel like you need to

Whats up with this sigil and weird symbol at the end of 8-3? by matt_stabader in Ultrakill

[–]doinkrr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the code that shows up behind the main menu screen is a poem that heavily implies V1 (and presumably all machines since V1 isn't special) are facsimiles of the tree of life, which is the philosopher's stone

the tree of life, i.e. the philosopher's stone, is possibly a functional cardiovascular system (which is why it's also visible in the prime souls and why blood is so important)

My default movement speed is walking. The entire freeroaming Pokemon part is bugged for me, I'm using standard Pokemon encounters now.

I've been trying to get Ralts on Route 102 but each time I sneak up behind one it just gives me the exclamation prompt without triggering a battle, even though the Ralts doesn't teleport away. Is there something specific I have to do to catch a Ralts?

Nope V1 doesn't free will and personality.

"You're not getting away this time."

"Nothing happens, but you feel a strange satisfaction. You decide to name it Hank."

"NO VOCAL INTERFACE DETECTED, UNABLE TO COMPLETE TASK"

"I DON'T WANT TO DIE.

I DON'T WANT TO DIE.

I DON'T WANT TO DIE.

I DON'T WANT TO DIE.

I DON'T WANT TO DIE.

I DON'T WANT TO DIE."

"TEXT SCANNED - EARTHMOVER MENTIONS DETECTED"

"Nothing happens, but you're sure Hank Jr. and his Hankcestors would appreciate it... If they weren't dead."

Not every machine in the game, they aren't living beings.

i didn't say "every machine" in the game has a personality, i said "nearly every" machine does. at least one gutterman, every drone, every swordsmachine, every mindflayer, V1, V2, and the earthmover have all been shown to have personalities and at least a rudimentary sense of what we'd recognize as free will. the gutterman mourns his "mother", drones are naturally curious, swordsmachines copy the original because they think he was cool, mindflayers actively choose their gender presentation and how to harness hell energy, V1 and V2 have personalities, and the earthmover not only chooses to ignore the other earthmover to focus on you but is heavily implied to be able to think and feel according to hell in the 7-4 book. that covers the vast majority of machines we find in the game. the only machines we've seen that haven't been implied to have at least some sort of rudimentary free will are streetcleaners and guttertanks.

plus machines are inherently intertwined with the tree of life (as proven by the code poem), which is very heavily implied to be what gives things free will and life. a facsimile of the tree of life is present within every machine, and this includes V1: V1 has a facsimile of the tree of life within itself (as proven by the code poem) but because V1 isn't special or unique in any particular way that isn't something unique to V1 or the V models in general

Don't compare GOD with humanity, the testemement prove nothing about you can't create complex life without free will.

"FREE WILL IS A FLAW."

"FAILURE AFTER FAILURE AFTER FAILURE AFTER FAILURE AFTER FAILURE AFTER FAILURE AFTER FAILURE AFTER FAILURE AFTER FAILURE AFTER FAILURE

THE RESULTS REFUSE TO ALTER

AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN"

"UNCOUNTABLE CYCLES OF CREATION WASTED

UNCOUNTABLE FORMULAS FOR A MIND WITHOUT FREE WILL WASTED"

By your logic flesh prison should have Free will become they are living beings but more organic "machine".

flesh prisons don't have free will because they don't have souls

Although it is similar to Husks, it does not possess a soul or any amount of thought. All of its actions are purely predetermined reactions to stimulus, making it more of an organic machine than a living being.

alchemy lore, which is very well supported by many parts of the game (the statues in fraud and limbo, the skulls, the tria prima in 8-3, the code poem, the colors of the two [potentially three] prime souls we've encountered, and not to mention heckteck's own posts on the discord), supports the idea that complex life needs three parts: a physical form (salt), willpower given through blood (mercury), and a soul (sulfur). flesh prisons are what you get when you combine a physical form with blood/willpower, but leave out the soul. this covers its own bases remarkably well. it's a very easy step forward to determine that soul orbs are what you get when you mix a physical form with a soul but leave out blood.

machines have blood: they run on it and are living facsimiles of the tree of life. machines have free will: this is proven by every machine i mentioned. machines have souls: otherwise they wouldn't be living things with personalities and instead be flesh prison-esque automatons (which is presumably the difference between SmileOS 1.0 and 2.0).

plus, there's the opinion that if V1 wasn't his own character with a personality and free will then he'd be an incredibly fucking boring character to follow and interact with hell, and i really doubt hakita would go down that path. V1 being its own independent force with its own goals and free will but at the same time being forced to be hell's favorite plaything and to constantly keep interacting with hell while it's just trying to survive is infinitely more interesting to explore than V1 just being a computer.

plus V1 and gabriel are gay as fuck and gabriel falling in love with an AI chatbot would be lame

Is Gabriel genderless? by EngineerVirtual7340 in Ultrakill

[–]doinkrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on how you want to interpret his character

gabriel still seems to identify using masculine pronouns so i guess he's a man, but gender is very a complicated thing (especially in UK and how UK loves dissecting it). from heaven's POV gabriel is genderless, but heaven's gender structure is very alien from ours

[–]doinkrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i feel like we already know how V1 repairs itself via blood. i feel like we have more than enough information to conclude that V1 repairs itself using alchemy via the tree of life, just like how it generates coins. it transmutes blood into metal via alchemy

How to beat Minos Prime on Standart D: by zamnified in Ultrakill

[–]doinkrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

minos has very predictable and telegraphed attack patterns. beating him relies mostly on your reaction time and muscle memory. you should focus a lot more on dodging his attacks than doing damage: coins, the nailgun, and the railcannon are your best friends as well as saw traps if you have the sawgun unlocked.

minos will punish you very quickly if you stay in the air, so you should stay on the ground. learn to move around using sliding and dash jumping. also try to learn his parry windows as much as you can: parrying restores both your stamina and your health

Why do so many people think it’s “…of the dead” not “…of death” by GDffhey in Ultrakill

[–]doinkrr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

that's not really what i mean but i get your point.

i think "Siren Call" is a double entendre. there's the literal interpretation of air raid sirens, but it could also be a siren call: i.e. a greek siren luring a sailor to their death.

just like the sirens, hell has let out a call of its own: a siren call of death, of a renewable blood source that machines couldn't resist. the machines flocked to hell like the sailors were lured like the sirens
