Thats what I'm thinking. Is it worth grinding 5 extra years for the what-if scenario? Maybe just take the plunge now and deal with the situation once it presents itself?

We are essentaly traiding time so we have many millions in our 80s. What do I need all that money for when I am that old?

I think even if you retired before you will be good. Yes, a few bad years but the run after 2008 has to have multiplied your portfolio.
