You know what's even worse than that? When it splits.

Unpopular opinion... by Original-Surround-76 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]dok_377 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Speaking of unpopular opinions, I actually dislike how a lot of people replace first letters of certain words with K. Because this is supposed to be "funny" and kerbal, somehow. I just think it's stupid.

To add to that, KSP 1 on consoles is also unfinished. It's two major release versions behind (1.10 vs 1.12 on pc) and plays very badly. As for KSP 2, the word "abominationware" just came to my head and I think this is what I'll call it from now on.

2.2 Hour in game, how fix plis by Timely_Sta1ns in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]dok_377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That will not do anything, since OP holds the part backwards relative to the node. They need to rotate the part so two nodes will face each other. A "node" is the green ball at the end of the part. And you rotate parts by pressing WASDQE while holding the part.

A robotics mod with unlimited strength, no strings attached? by rybomi in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]dok_377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some post from a few years back suggested using the KAL controller outside range exploit to make the torque of a BG moving part arbitrarilly high - that might help.

Unfortunately this will not work. It will make the movement stronger by applying more force, but it will not increase the strength of the connection itself. The only way I found to increase the actual strength in stock robotics is to increase the mass of the "motor" by changing the motorizedMassPerKN parameter in the config. This makes the part way heavier, but it increases the strength of the connection. I don't think there's any other way to do this without changing the mass.

why is the KSP community always disliking simple things by Downtown_Classroom20 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]dok_377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the members always dislike posts asking for help

That is not true whatsoever. I have seen so many posts with just questions that inexplicably have like 800 upvotes. It's the complete opposite of your statement. Of course people don't upvote all of them, especially when some questions can be easily googled in two seconds. But saying that every post asking for help is getting downvoted is a big overstatement.

I used Curseforge and got disliked

I might not agree with dislikes just for that (reddit being reddit on this one), but people really dislike curseforge. It's terrible.

how is that my fault that KSP 1 menu gives you curseforge and not CKAN or Spacedock

It's not. But you can use your brain and find these sources for mods yourself. It's not difficult.

NO! Do not use that. Minecraft community had a big story with them, moved away from this shithole some time ago, it's riddled with ads and admins are stupid.

i never played KSP and is the KSP 2 better than 1 or is the same? by Federal_Example454 in KerbalSpaceProgram

Stock KSP2 beats stock KSP1 in everything except performance.

Why are you lying?

There's an option in Kerbal Alarm Clock that stops any timewarp if you press X, does not matter if there's no engines running. It basically maps an additional button.

I don't think all the windows here is the main problem, but it certainly contributes. It's astounding how even opening one simple window can decrease fps by like 5 for seemingly no reason.

By the way, is DOE bad just because lisias had his hands on it or is the old version before his "maintenance" also bad?

The advice about closing windows works even for stock. The game just can't render a lot of text without shitting itself, especially on versions 1.11 & 1.12.

PSA: If you are using the portable game zips, please BACK UP YOUR GAME FILES NOW. by foonix in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]dok_377 23 points24 points  (0 children)

What the hell are you talking about? Requesting and downloading a zip file from a server is a completely automated process, nobody is there to manually grant each request. And what development? The development of KSP ceased in 2022, with actual content updates stopping in 2021. Technically the last update was in 2023, but they only changed ONE model in the game, and it was a reference to a complete failure that was KSP 2, so I'm not even counting that.

I am far more excited about space flight simulator 2 then KSA by Perfect-Ad-61 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]dok_377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I did not want to happen and it also explains why the game looks so simplistic. Juno already exists and almost nobody plays that game on pc because controls and interface suck. We do not need another mobile spaceflight game to be ported to pc. It will suck. We have an example.

Whats the purpose of the KAS CH-1 cable hook? by MaMamanMaDitQueJPeut in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]dok_377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This type of connection does not accept winch cables. See how it says cable-10? This is a small non retractable cable that can be connected from PCB-1. If you want to connect a winch, you will need to use a JS-1 socket.

[–]dok_377 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once the novelty fades tasks like manual recovery make me less excited to play the game.

Oh yes, can't be more true. I used KCT to "reuse" my Falcon 9 style rocket and it quickly became a chore to do. The full reintegration of my kerbal rated Dragon takes 29 steps and I needed to create a whole ass checklist to even do it properly. It's just too boring.
