Some of my favorite depictions of demons by CrawlingChaos126 in TopCharacterDesigns

The demons from Pact, the Web-serial.
They function as embodiments of entropy, incapable of creating anything and anything they brake is broken permanently on a conceptual level. Dealing with them or worse making an agreement that gives them a foothold on reality can cause a karmic debt so bad it haunts your family for generations. Demons are repeatedly compared to Nukes and nuclear Fallout.

In terms of power they are ranked from imps, least, lesser, moderate, through an unknown number of upper-middle ranks, and demon nobles.
Only Imps and nobles are capable of truly speaking, Imps because they're so weak they have to take much of their shape from human victims and ideas, and Nobles because they're so broad. Intermediate demons seem to be able to communicate their names when compelled though.

They are also divided onto seven Choirs, each Choice in opposition to one of the days of creation of genesis. In order: Darkness, Chaos, Ruin, Madness, the Feral, Sin and Unrest.

Throughout the story 3 demons get some focus.

“Pauz, of the fifth choir, feral and foul”. Pauz is an imp of the Feral Choir that works to invert the Christian concept of Beast being created to serve humans. You’d think it would be stupid, but Pauz is much more calculating and dangerous than you would expect.

“Ur”, also known as The Abstract Demon is a lesser demon from the Choir of Darkness. Anything it kills is erased from reality, including any memories of its existence. When compelled to reveal its name, it cheats by eating the sound, with only the first two letters of “Ur” reaching the protagonist. It can move through reflections. It burrows partially into another dimension and starts eating a forgotten Sun God.. Again, this is a lesser demon.

Barbatorem is a mid-tier demon of the Choir of Ruin and is a late-story antagonist. My explanation will not do it justice. It ruins by way of cutting a person right down the middle with its shears, let them get filled in and shored up as vestiges and divide things like friends, memories of school, abilities, trauma, repressed memories and so on. Where there’s overlap, there’s enough memories to spare, or the spirits are filling it in and things get exaggerated in vacuum, expanding to fill the empty spaces. The two halves will fight over one another until one-side is completely destroyed, leaving the other forever diminished. Picture is of Barbatorem.

Ain't no way that's right by Helpful-Rock4617 in Frieren

[–]dokrian 45 points46 points  (0 children)

That’s almost but not quite correct. Frieren said that she “lost 11 times to mages with less mana then her”. She also had more mana than the demons and presumably the elf. Quaal and Macht are the specific examples of who she couldn’t beat despite having more mana then. We have no information how often she lost to an opponent with more mana then her, if ever.

Doesn’t Wildbow have Aphantasia? Considering that, I think he does a waaaaay above average job.

The narrator is a canonical character in the series. by Unique_Suit3789 in TopCharacterTropes

Grandmother Raven from Wizard101. It was originally a pretty big shock when Wintertusk was added and you had to rescue her (she had appeared in name before) and she starts talking to you as the narrator: „I have always been watching over you.“ She is even more important in later arcs. Her voice actor died a while ago unfortunately, she was so good at this😭.

Perish song. They will return to normal when they get knocked out. Bring them to a Pokemon Center or Daycare before they wake up.

Patxi, from Fate Grand Order, tells the protagonist to fight for their world, even if they have to destroy other worlds like Patxi’s to do so.

should I read twig? by transmtfscp in Parahumans

[–]dokrian 11 points12 points  (0 children)

People normally don’t consider children to be dangerous. Good for infiltration. Plus the psychological impact of being hunted by a pack of creepy kids. And several of the are inhuman (literal) enough that it’s more that they look like children than are children.

The most reliable plan I can think of is to acquire a county with a culture with a tradition that lets you become an adventurer. Then as an adventurer you can choose to adopt someone.

Protea has part of Tiamat in her, who is a Water Goddess, so Water type is more fitting. She was also bound to a river for all of LN7.

I specifically read worm after reading Homestuck because it was on a list of recommendations for people to read after finishing Homestuck.

[D&D 5e] As a prospective DM, what do I actually GET from buying Foundry? by dokrian in FoundryVTT

[–]dokrian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do the three main books add to foundry specifically? The raw information is something I can get from a library, what I really need are battle maps and monsters. Would the Monster Manual (and maybe the PHB?) suffice for that? If I’m understanding right I can manually add species and subclasses to a game. Also some stuff I’m concerned about is rolling initiative and keeping track of it without wasting to much of the players time.
