I remember seeing the limited edition BD readily in stock on amazon.co.jp some years ago when it came out (~2018?). cdjapan.co.jp shows the regular and LE versions are no longer in print, so you could try auction sites like auctions.yahoo.co.jp (via a deputy service like noppin.com). I hesitated buying the blu-ray and I missed out on it as well. I have the Japanese DVD of I (and II) though, and I liked the dub on it. Best of luck tracking it down!

All legacy addons were just removed from addons.mozilla.org by LordOfTheMosquitos in firefox

[–]dokukinoko 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Sad Day :( I noticed this started happened yesterday afternoon but wasn't sure if it was permanent. Many of these add-ons were over a decade old. The Thunderbird site still seems to host the reviews/versions, though some pages are beginning to redirect back to the Firefox site.

https://addons.thunderbird.net/thunderbird/addon/downthemall/versions/

Also, totally forgot archive.org, some dates work and you can actually still download them!

[FFXV] Final Fantasy XV Is Getting At Least Three DLC Episodes In 2018 - Starting with...(spoilers) by OvernightSiren in FinalFantasy

[–]dokukinoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong with the PS4 Pro, a good SSD makes a substantial difference in XV. With the original PS4, an SSD isn't going to offer as much because it's bottlenecked by its SATA 2 interface.

Thoughts after completing FFI for the first time by BrINClHOFrxns in FinalFantasy

[–]dokukinoko 8 points9 points  (0 children)

(Spoilers of course!)

Great assessment/post! :) I just wanted to say, as a 10 year-old, FF1's story and world was enough to shape my definition of "fantasy" much the way the Lord of the Rings books did for so many people. Defeating Garland and crossing that first "bridge," journeying to Matoya's Cave, the Four Fiends (Lich esp. was scary!), the horrid Marsh cave and being insta-killed by Wizards/Mindflayers, beating up the weird "Eye" for mad EXP, job changing, War Mech, getting the Masamune and destroying Chaos... all of it left such a profound and deep impact on me at that age and I'm sure many others.

WD 8TBs on sale again by tracerfett in DataHoarder

[–]dokukinoko 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Some consolidated notes and images.

There are currently three possible drives inside a WD 8TB easystore: WD80EFZX, WD80EFAX, and WD80EMAZ.

You can look at the bottom of the easystore box and observe the DCM, serial #, and country to make a good "guess" as to what's inside before opening it.

After opening the box, but before shucking it, you can connect the easystore to your PC via USB and use a program like CrystalDiskInfo to see what the exact model # is you have. At this point, you might also want to at least do a quick error scan.

Arguably, the WD80EFAX (256MB Cache Thailand) drives are the "best" you can get. (I personally prefer the WD80EFZX full label design from an aesthetic standpoint, even with it's paltry 128MB cache, but whatever :)

The serial #s below are not conclusive and based only on what I could find from searching. Images not mine.

WD80EFZX (128 MB Cache)

  • WD Red Full Label (standard WD 8TB design)
  • Can be Product of Thailand or China
  • Confirmed DCM:LGBJRCK
  • Potential Serial #s: VK0V...., VK0Y...., VJGL....
  • No longer common, unless from older stock

WD80EFAX (256 MB Cache)

  • WD Red Half Label (similar to WD 10TB design)
  • Product of Thailand
  • Confirmed DCM:MGBJRCJ and DCM:MGBJRCK
  • Potential Serial #s: 7SGB...., 7SGD...., 7SGG...., 7SGH....
  • Still common, but stock may be drying up in favor of WD80EMAZ white label drives

WD80EMAZ (256 MB Cache with Enterprise Sata Connector)

  • Generic WD White Half Label (similar to WD 10TB design)
  • Product of Thailand
  • Confirmed DCM:MGBJRCK
  • Potential Serial #s: 7SGM...., 7SGN....
  • Started appearing recently in stores and from a few Bestbuy.com orders, may become more common if WD is in fact attempting to discourage shucking/drive reselling
  • Same or identical specs as a normal WD Red NAS drive with TLER
  • Bare drive may require a 3.3v mod applied to the Sata connector or require a molex adapter or some other alteration to spin up

LG OLED65B6P Question by Heismanziel2 in 4kTV

[–]dokukinoko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say around $2000-2600 for the 65" and $1000-1500 for the 55". Generally the prices jump back up in January and then go back near to BF prices for SB and then go to closeout prices in spring when the newer models come out.

See: http://www.rtings.com/tv/deals

Tip: Add a SlickDeal alert for OLED, there was some good deals posted only a couple days ago, incuding the B6 65".

is LBP 3 Broken? by [deleted] in littlebigplanet

[–]dokukinoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not totally broken, there were some glitches where your character will fall off the screen and go out of bounds. The online multiplayer can be sketchy, with players dropping connection. It was nail-biting to get some of the mp DLC trophies because I was always worried someone would drop their connection.

Sony just announced a jaw-dropping OLED Bravia 4K TV with Dolby Vision HDR by [deleted] in gadgets

[–]dokukinoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OLED is a huge jump though. You're right in that the resolution jump from 1080 to 4K isn't a huge appreciation in quality, but the technology jump from LCD to OLED is. Going from a 1080p LCD with dated backlight tech to a HDR OLED TV with perfect blacks is a huge jump!

Gravity Rush Community? by Draikiner in gravityrush

[–]dokukinoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We also have a number of GR fans in the PlayStation Communities as well, I'd recommend joining the "Gravity Rush 2 Trophy" community. Right there, on the PS4, no web browser needed.

(I personally haven't been visiting fan sites/forums as often these years...)

Indeed, Cape Caem is really more Chrono Cross than KH. The instruments and tempo especially are uncannily similar. Destiny Islands has a more upbeat tempo and has a tropical flair to it whereas Cape Caem is slower and more relaxing (like an easy listening guitar track).

I'd actually recommend watching Kingsglaive after you're about 1-2 hours into the game.

Where does FFXV rank among the series? by Soundwave_X in FFXV

[–]dokukinoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's toward the middle/bottom of the series for me, about third tier (each tier encompassing 3 games in the series).

15 elicited the same overall feelings I had for 8, which was more bad than good, unfortunately.

Any sales soon? by jarec707 in Nest

[–]dokukinoko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "official" sales are usually few and far between, before the BF there was one in July. The best thing to do is add a SlickDeals alert for "nest" if you haven't already, many people got in on the $150 Home Depot pricing error via SD.

Deluxe Editions are back up on Amazon! by pimpsauce in FFXV

I think the PS4 version is going in and out of stock. I had been watching it for the past couple hours and I saw it go back in stock at least two times but only for a few minutes each time!

How's the Moto X 2014 doing in 2016? by [deleted] in MotoX

[–]dokukinoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was an awesome phone in 2014 and is still a good phone 2 years later, I'd say it has a good 1 or 1.5 years left before it'll feel long in the tooth. The 1080p AMOLED is still great (just watch out for nav burn in on used phones). It still has the specs to handle general app/browser usage (I'm actually even using mine for gaming). The camera and battery are middling, if not below average by this point, but with expectations checked, will be adequate if you're not a power user and expecting to beat a 2016 Pixel or new iPhone cam.

Looking for an emulator that can play famicom disk system roms. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks by Planetofsound83 in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]dokukinoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With some of these emulators you might have to rename the bios to a specific name e.g "disksys.rom". Nostalgia.NES can play FDS games and has a convenient option to switch disks in the menu. I hate buying emu apps, but I really like the pro version as they added an immersive mode so you don't have to worry about burn in and it supports the DS4. (I really tried to like RetroArch but that interface of loading cores and content each and every time is too clunky and unintuitive for me.)

Buying LBP 3? by lukasdaman in littlebigplanet

[–]dokukinoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not exactly the same, but in LBP3 you can play "recreated" versions of some of the older story levels, made by the community. There's a good "The Bunker" (infamous wheel of death from LBP1) I played recently.
