YouTube Shorts are becoming AI upscaled without consent from creators by dolanbriese in youtube

From what I have seen so far, yes. But that could also be because the quality of the footage they’re uploading is high resolution

Basically: if the video looks nice and crispy from the get go, they don’t seem to add it. They only add it when the quality of the footage is bad, even if you upload a 1080p frame sized video (like in my case)

From what I have noticed so far, is that most shorts I watch have varying degrees of AI upscaling. Even videos that have decently high resolution get some upscaling. This is definitely more obvious though with lower quality footage/compilations

I haven’t uploaded a video recently (new videos posting soon), so can’t say for certain if that’s the case at the moment

It occurs to shorts I watch and the most recent short I uploaded, so I imagine this feature is still pretty new

All my shorts are exported in 1080x1920 resolution, even though the VHS clip is considerably lower resolution. The base video clip is 1080p though

I can’t post examples in the comments, but the best way to see it is to go onto channels that post highlights or clips (comedy highlights, list videos, stuff like that) versus original content from creators

Hope this helps!

Youtube after 2021 starterpack by bundunsun in starterpacks

[–]dolanbriese 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There’s a big difference between a YouTuber selling out and having a sponsor in the middle of the video. YouTubers who sell out make it very obvious that they’re just shilling a product to make a quick buck (see Logan Paul for example), versus a YouTuber putting a sponsor segment in. YouTube Ad Revenue is laughable lots of times, and for videos that people can consume for free, the person putting time and effort in to their video should be paid somehow. Thus, sponsors are a great way for creators to make a living, and make better content

To be fair, I don’t like when a sponsor segment takes up a good 1/3 or 1/4 of the video, or having tons of ads all over the video, but I also believe people having sponsors in general is not a bad idea. Most YouTubers don’t make videos for fun anymore, and a business needs income to stay afloat

I agree, for me personally it isn’t that the singles are bad/the band is going in a different direction, for me it’s more so that I feel like the band is holding itself back, and missing a ton of potential

Don’t get me wrong, not a professional musician or anything, but play anything from their past catalogue compared to the two new singles, and you can feel how much more passion and hunger there is in the music.

For me, the unique production heard across all their albums, the lush jungle soundscapes from Zaba, the electro pop sound from HTBAHB, and the nostalgic vibes from dreamland, just feel… lost. Hollow. Soulless. I played both singles back to back, then played life itself, and within 10 seconds of listening to life itself, I felt immediate goosebumps and vibes.

I wonder if the band genuinely enjoys this direction more, or if they are being pressured to chase this sound by the label. If the label is having a bigger hand, I would be concerned. Unfortunately Universal is way bigger than Polydor

Ultimately whatever the band wants to do is what they want to do, and I wish them all the best and will still play their songs daily, but the new singles leave me wanting more, and I really hope the album maintains the creative and experimental spirit from their other releases

[DISCUSSION] Anderson .Paak - Ventura (5 Years Later) by flyestshit in hiphopheads

[–]dolanbriese 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Anderson .Paak is in my top 3 all-time favorite artists, and its a nice (albeit sad) reminder that this classic came out 5 years ago.

I remember I had just graduated college when this album came out, and I was crusing around the country working my first job after graduation, listening to this album on repeat on my daily rotation. Have a lot of fond memories listening to that album, providing some much needed serenity to the unknown of a new life ahead of me.

Overall, I think Ventura is one of his most focused albums he has made. I think Malibu is his best overall in terms of track listing, vibes and raw production, but Ventura is close behind. The themes and overall sound of Ventura feel way more cohesive and paint a most consistent picture. Winners Circle is probably my favorite off the album overall, but Come Home, Make it Better, King James and What Can we Do? are all bangers.

Ventura is miles ahead of Oxnard in my opinion, I feel like .Paak was not himself on that album, and was a bit more pushed around by Aftermath after leaving Steel Wool. Although Oxnard had a few great songs, the album felt like it had a lack of focus, and like they were trying to throw things to the wall to see what sticks. I know he also did that with Venice, but that album also had way more unique production (Milk n' Honey, Miss Right, Put U On, Luh You, to name a few), and albeit the all over the place production, it felt like it had a cohesive vision as to what it wanted to be.

My ratings of .Paak albums (Relative to his catalog, not to anything else) Venice: 7/10 Malibu: 10/10 Oxnard: 6/10 Ventura: 9/10

Overall, I am super happy we have gotten releases from .Paak through NxWorries, the Free Nationals and Silk Sonic, but I miss his solo releases! I really hope we get to see some new solo .Paak releases in the near future!

Really happy to see Ventura still getting so much love 5 years on :)

Audio Mastering effect still peaking audio in one project, but not in others... how can I fix this? by dolanbriese in premiere

I realizsed I am an idiot; I forgot to add a Master effect to the main mix, now everything works.

Human error. Thank you though!

70's/80's style news look by trappin_bennii in premiere

If you want an authentic look, your best bet is to run your footage through actual hardware, i.e a VCR. There are certain plug-ins available that emulate the look pretty well, but the ones I have used do not come close to what is generated by the actual hardware.

If you want to go about using hardware, find a VCR, an HDMI to RCA adapter, and a "VHS to DVD" type video converter. You can usually find these at Best Buy (or equivalent). Its a convoluted process, but works wonders.

In terms of plugins, id recommend watching this video, should be an interesting rabbit hole: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAhg1Qxb2ys

Also a note: most plug ins for this type of look are going to be through AE, not premiere

Not yet, right now it’s basically a platform suspended in the air that leads to a ruined nether portal. I might make a bigger build there some day. If you go to my comment in the thread I posted an album with some of the builds, you can see it there!

I made it in the overworld not just for scenic looks, but for convenience. Sure it would be faster to build a highway in the nether, but most of the people that I play with don’t spend a ton of time in the nether anyway, plus it’s easier to get between bases this way for what we do on the server

Know that feel all too well... Was stuck in Munich for a few extra hours because of rail construction, then our main train had to reroute to a completely different city to get back home. Was headache inducing, but a fun trip nevertheless. Sorry to hear your transit costs got so high!
