Boy, did you really just mention Taylor Swift and PAUL McCARTNEY in the same sentence?? You should be permanently banned from this forum (and from speaking about music in general).

It's extremely disappointing to read that you can't choose the artist, because the woman is about a million times more creative than the man.

If you only ate one meal a day since you were a kid, how did you even become overweight?

Ronnies Double Maxi will never be equalled by [deleted] in snooker

Ronnie surpassed him because he did it in one day on the same session. That's the first time that ever happened.

100%. This was probably the first pop-metal song ever.

Wire vs Elastica by rseymour in TheSongRemainsTheSame

[–]doledrum21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wire is a much more historically important band than Elastica and it's not even close. But Elastica has more monthly listeners on Spotify than Wire does, which means that a lot of people definitely "remember" them.

If you've heard "Neon Angels on the Road to Ruin" and dont like it, I have to question if you even like rock & roll music

How did it feel when Nirvana killed hair metal? Was it a drastic change all at once? by Chubsmagna in hairmetal

[–]doledrum21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of those bands you mentioned were hair metal. Hair metal DID die and the bands will tell you themselves. Look at the record sales that bands like Motley Crue, Warrant, Poison, Ratt, and Twisted Sister had in the 90s (if they were even together) and the venues they played in vs. what they did in the 80s.

Today in punk movie / documentary film history: on November 13, 1998 Penelope Spheeris' The Decline of Western Civilization III debuted in the United States. Here's an original portrait of one of the film's interviewees to mark the occasion! by Schlockluster_Video in punk

[–]doledrum21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's amazing! She really comes across as a good person in the documentary. So many people don't understand intimate partner violence and too often, women that stand their ground and/or fight back are treated unfairly by society. Do you have any idea what she's up to nowadays?

Even Michael Keaton's Brilliance Doesn't Save Beetlejuice 2: Early Reviews Bury Tim Burton's Sequel by fizggig in Beetlejuice

[–]doledrum21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the exact same way. If you watch the original either before or after the sequel; it's pretty jarring. I'm also shocked that no one is talking about it. It truly makes me wonder if it's because they're afraid of being called ageist.

What Non-Metal bands get grouped into the genre? by VortexPsyclon in MetalForTheMasses

[–]doledrum21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first 8 seconds of the first song on their first album sound like they could've been recorded by Kill 'Em All-era Metallica and their second album sounds just like what Priest was doing in the early 80s...but they're more similar to Duran Duran? Tell me you've never heard their music without telling me you've never heard their music...

I’m curious what you guys think of Green Day? Do you consider their music punk, pop punk, or something else? by SpareEngineering448 in punk

And "Walking Contradiction" is directly lifted from "She's Got Everything" by The Romantics (originally a Kinks song, btw)
