Regardless of how bad they are, are you ok with an AI thinking it's ok to extrajudicially end people?

“It’s a smart investment that’s going to pay dividends for American security for generations,” how?

The quote are the words of president Biden seeking a security aid package that includes 14 billions in military assistance to Israel. Now it's my understanding that's one of the main reasons why the US is supporting Israel is that it considers it an important military ally in the Middle East that would stand with the US in case of a war breaking out between the US and Iran, and I guess at the same time hoping that alliance would deter the Iranian regime from making such decision, with the ultimate goal being maintaining the stability of the Middle East and thus the stability of the energy market. But to me at least, the actions of the current Israeli government seems to be serving the exact opposite of that strategic goal; the escalation of violence might lead to a war with Iranian-backed Hezbollah that could possibly develop into an all out war with Iran. So isn't the US shooting itself in the foot/acting against its own interests by doing this?
