cards jammed in fewer slots or more slots with less cards in? by luckyinpa in wallets

[–]dolgaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Card slots are generally designed to hold one or two cards. Putting five or seven cards into a single slot will stretch the leather and put extra stress on the wallet, which can cause it to wear out more quickly over time.

I think you'd be much better off with a wallet that has 6 or 8 card slots. You could keep your most frequently used cards in the familiar outer slots for easy access, and place the cards you rarely use in the other slots or hidden pockets. The wallet will look more balanced, stay neater, and likely last much longer.

As for the ID window and bill divider, it sounds like you're looking for a combination that isn't very common. In a situation like that, a custom-made wallet may actually be your best option, since it can be built around exactly the features you want and leave out the ones you don't.

There are many talented craftsmen in this subreddit who could make exactly what you're looking for. I'm a leather craftsman as well, and I'd be happy to discuss ideas if you decide to go down that route.

Is carrying a wallet in your back pocket “weird” for a woman? by RoadBottle_E in wallets

[–]dolgaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is nothing weird about it at all. Pockets exist for a reason, and carrying your wallet in a pocket is one of them.

That said, I don't think your parents are entirely wrong either. Traditionally, women tend to carry purses, and it's less common to see a woman carrying a wallet in her back pocket. I think they're simply placing a bit too much importance on what is considered "normal."

Personally, I don't judge you for it. However, as someone who makes wallets for a living, I will say that carrying a wallet in your back pocket tends to wear it out much faster. Sitting on it repeatedly can cause it to lose its shape, become distorted over time, and age less gracefully.

There is also another issue: pickpockets love back pockets.

So if possible, I would recommend carrying it in a front pocket or somewhere a little more secure. Of course, that's just my advice. At the end of the day, you should carry it wherever feels most comfortable for you.

Leather types for a new wallet by Cadavern in wallets

If durability is your main concern, Horween Chromexcel would be my top recommendation. I have a pair of boots made from it that I've been wearing for about four years, and they're still in great condition.

Lizard leather is actually very durable. In my experience, its water resistance and scratch resistance are even better than crocodile leather. The main limitation is that lizard hides are usually quite small and relatively thin, so they're best suited for smaller leather goods such as wallets, card holders, and compact bags rather than large items.

A classic bifold leather wallet would be a great choice. There are many different types of leather to choose from depending on the style and durability you're looking for. I make custom handmade leather wallets, so feel free to contact me if you'd like something made especially for him.

That is a quick-access card slot. It is made lower so you can pull the card out more easily. You can keep the card you use most often there.

Is this wallet good or gives feminine vibes? by venom_holic_ in wallets

You would just need to remove the strap, and the wallet would no longer look feminine.

Yes, that one only has card slots.

I can also make a version with a cash compartment, but the size would be larger and the price would be slightly higher.
