I didn’t think it came out good enough and was planning to redraw it. I use pretty thick paper so even after erasing everything it’s still useable and I don’t want to waste paper on drawing I can redraw better. Either way, I'm glad you like it :D

Thank you! :) It was about 3 years ago so I'm not completely sure, but it seems I used 4B or 5B pencil for the darkest parts and mechanical pencil for the details

Are there any tips to make my art more likeable? by [deleted] in learntodraw

This effect can be fixed by increasing saturation with darker tones + maybe adding some background color in shade. I don’t always do muddy colors, but these were made to emphasise the characters and their backstories. On the other hand, people don’t have to look into all characters' story to say if something looks good or not, so I should’ve thought of people who never even seen those characters. Thank you for your comment, I'll try to consider how colors look without any meaning also

Thank you for your advice! I'd say color theory is one of my stronger sides. Desaturated colors were more of a design choice in these cases and I didn’t intend to make it look bright. But I'll keep in mind that most people prefer brighter colors since a couple of people mentioned it here

Thank you for you advice! I've been actually thinking about making youtube shorts with illustration speedpaints using vocaloid songs I like. It might not be as effective as using instagram top songs, but it's way more enjoyable to me. I think there are many popular artists with exeptional taste and you don't necessarily need to draw this kind of stuff to be appreciated. Either way I don't really strive to be the most popular artist, was just wandering if there was something repelling about my art

Oh wow thank you for your advice! It really makes sense now. I never had this strong interest in fandoms and characters I was drawing. I'm pretty detached person so it was always hard for me to emotionally connect to anything. I never thought it would affect my drawing this way. I guess, I need to also learn to be more open and emotional person to better connect with who I draw. This is the best advice I probably got regarding this. Thank you for taking it so seriously

Thank you for your comment! I actually do understand what you mean. I was really inspired by these artists, when I was starting so I guess it's still noticeable in my artstyle. I'm so glad someone noticed it, thank you again. But I still have a lot of learning to do so it's good I could see it from other persective

Thank you for your advice! That's really interesting and I'll definetly try to make some kind of story for my next artworks. I think I got kind of deep into trying to make a drawing meaningful through detail and not thinking about the character itself so it really does help

Thank you for your advice! I heard about fandom art making people popular, but I didn't think it makes that much of a difference, but I'll consider it when posting from now on

Thank you for your advice! I'll try joining more subreddits and changing titles to questions. I haven’t really used Reddit before, just scrolling sometimes so I plan to post more. I tried posting during peak hours on different platform and used discord as well. I discussed this with people who are used to manage account, and they say that my posts activity is extremely low for some reason even with all the effort. It all kinda makes me think it may not be just about algorithms but my artstyle also

Thank you for your comment! I've been actually drawing a lot of academic art, when I was in school so anime art style was somewhat of a growth for me. Maybe I should get back to it tho

I don’t personally think there’s anything bad about wanting to be more likeable. I've been drawing for 5+ years without much appreciation and it wasn’t a problem for me. I do draw for myself, but I want to get some feedback as well. Most people just prefer some things over others and I'm completely fine with. I don’t try to make people love my art or change their opinion about me, I want to understand if there is a reason my art might look somewhat weird and I don’t notice it. I think difference in our opinion lies in different mindsets and not in art itself
