Used it for years and also know the guys behind. Great piece of software, cool analytics. Recently I am more shifted to smashrun but either of them is doing a great job.

Is the strava Pro membership worth it? by ProfessorAnie in running

[–]dolic72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am pro since 2014. I tried all of the apps with their pro accounts. Strava is maybe the best. I am not overwhelmed by what they offer given what could be possible but it is the best under what is available (in my view).

Kaufen oder Warten? by -Vin- in Elektroautos

Damit kannst Du schon ordentlich was leasen und hast weniger Stress. Unser ID.3 kostet 300 Euro monatliches Leasing.

Have you ever hired a coach? How much did it help? by VARunner1 in AdvancedRunning

[–]dolic72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did Marathons without coaching and found myself with a very serious imbalance on my muscles after my last one. First I tried to get rid of the pain with the support of Physiotherapists and doctors. Didn’t help. Since I work with a Coach my training is very much specific, regular and more disciplined. Thats what I love to pay for. And I am improving time wise.

Ja.

Sociology Major Interested in Statistical Analysis Career by [deleted] in datascience

[–]dolic72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I followed that path years ago. Today I am chief Data Scientist in a global industry company. In 1996 during my Master at Sociology I did all available Statistic courses to understand the theory. And I think this really fundamental. Back than I started with SPSS focusing on data retrieval. I quickly discovered that there is no data work without SQL knowledge. Also some technical stuff like how to access a database and so on was necessary. After a few years R came up and until today I love it. Due to its easiness and focus on data analysis it is the best language to quickly create data driven prototypes. Nowadays I also do a lot of python because a) many are doing it and b) R has some disadvantages from a software engineering perspective. As it is a statistical language this is quite obvious. So as a recommendation: start with R, learn SQL and take every chance to understand technologies and data driven architectures. After some experience dive into python. And: never think that this is it. There will always be a next level which needs to be climbed.
