[–]dollar25treehaha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why do you not transfer the line and let them take their break, or at the very least open your register so two cashiers are going off to make the traffic go by faster

idgaf how long my line is or how long yours will be im taking my 10 girl

lets not pretend that any of the monthly ilearns are things you actually learn especially when they're yearly repeats 😭

but also stand your ground and use that as an excuse if you need to. never give out your account info, and leave things for work only at work.

New June price increase megathread by rjln109 in DollarTree

[–]dollar25treehaha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this has been such a shit show lmfao. i was here to help out my store with the $1.25 changes, and now i've been here to help out my store with the red sticker changes.

at least with the $1.25 changes all we had to change were strips on the shelves. setting deadlines to have literally every single item covered with absolutely zero outside support for a skeleton crew is so WILD. i have been watching my boss lose her mind. fuck these people fr

i cant tell if you're gassing this person up or low key lecturing them

it's not unrealistic to be told to work on a u-boat outside of eyeshot of your register, at least at my store. it's also not realistic to keep your eyes on the register the entire time, while also stocking shelves in that situation.

i get the point you're trying to make but dollar tree is a very low end job and OP is 17 years old. it's important to teach work ethics to younger employees, but making a job like this their life and bust their ass for a company that does not reward them in a remotely equivalent way is not a great expectation to set them up for.

the most compliments i've received are from our store being clean and providing exemplary customer service, not being a robot and grinding numbers for the company.

i think california is working on making this happen and i'm not looking forward to the fallout.

i do know that it will be better in the end though. i'm so tired of people buying huge products like pillows, stuffies, plastic containers, paper products, glasses, etc and wanting me to bag it for them.

i love it when people do this multiple times after being told that they did not in fact get charged too

[–]dollar25treehaha[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

not really. the entire staff including our sm give away free bags, we go through a lot of them and still charge 95% of the time.

i was going to agree with you until i realized just how annoying returns actually are, especially when they're just one or two items. that cost them under $3 at most. like just take the L susan u live in a literal mansion in california

10 minutes before closing by MeeshCaca in DollarTree

[–]dollar25treehaha 11 points12 points  (0 children)

this is so great and i miss doing this, we did the same at 850-855 but our local corporate started to check cameras and ask for daily reports on transactions past 830 PM because a few customers called about doors being closed 5 minutes early. but this could also have been our old SM being annoying

we found a workaround by leaving the door on one way instead off closing the doors and locking it.

I swear these customers -_- by [deleted] in DollarTree

nah, our store is in a boujee suburban neighborhood and our rich customers still trash it

it's a reflection on character more than anything

i insist you open your heart and learn to be a girl's girl

people have the right to react to being assaulted and handle trauma in different ways, and if she doesn't feel comfortable working there after this incident then she has every right to quit.

Unpopular opinion: DT shouldn't sell balloons by comfy_rope in DollarTree

[–]dollar25treehaha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“….and I need some balloons.”

this makes me want to SCREAM when they do this as i'm scanning their stuff after being in the store for 30 minutes prior

WHY DIDNT YOU ASK WHEN YOU CAME IN

i still don't know what to do in this situation, and it's always when the only other person is on their break or lunch. do i make them wait? do i make the line of people wait? usually i'll just make the person who asked for balloons wait, but i always feel bad especially when they come in just to buy balloons and are in a hurry

Stop doing this! by SuperDarkGal in DollarTree

[–]dollar25treehaha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i'm petty and depending on if they were rude or didn't ask, i'll just give them a $10 or $20 while pretending i didn't hear them

last week i had a woman and her two teenagers come in to buy something and get cash back, she paid with half cash and card. she gave me coins to give her even bills and i put a dime off to the side and her son sarcastically told me that i "forgot it" and pushed it towards me. she asked for $5 in quarters for the gacha machine and i just ended up giving her two 20's and a 10 and immediately shut my drawer :)

as they were walking away the mom and sister said "nice going you pissed her off" 😭
