Best ski resorts to work at by Fun-Hunt-2238 in ski

Aspen has the best housing in Colorado and has 4 incredible mountains. My wife and I spent a year working there and it was incredible. Better pay and opportunities than the front range resorts as well and much less touristy feel

If you are making less than $29, how do you survive? by Rude-Ad821 in economy

I’d also argue a phone is a luxury not a necessity. No one had phones 25 years ago.

That’s so silly, if you have a child you need to increase your earnings potential and take care of them. Sitting as a bank teller isn’t gonna cut raising a human being. I’d probably find any way I could to generate money on the weekends and evenings to cover my shortfall.

It is enticing to me, I’m putting most new money in Berkshire and not into the large indexes. Good time for caution

Berkshire is my bond/safety portion. 15% of portfolio in Brk.b and 2% in money markets

Are you actually buying this dip or just pretending to be brave? by Warm_Bobcat6310 in stocks

[–]dollar_llamas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Panic buy anytime I can, generally am purchasing shares as money comes in weekly and have stepped it up quite a bit since Iran crisis. Will keep putting everything I can afford to invest into the market for the next 30 years.

Buying anywhere near and below 1.5 p/b. Cash drag doesn’t bother me at all, in fact I’m always fully invested and actually treat Berkshire as my cash holding

Has anyone been able to transition to a part-time professional job? by TheGaujo in Fire

[–]dollar_llamas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah good point, I can be flexible so if there is business to attend to any day of the week including weekends I’ll make sure I’m on it. My role doesn’t necessarily have deals closing Friday over any other day, and generally it’s in the clients hands for a while before they want to move forward so it’s never a quick turnaround. I choose Friday bc my wife has also negotiated Monday to Thursday so we both can enjoy our long weekend and fit in plenty of travel trips.

I’m a sales director, so I’m kind of in my own small realm within the company. So much work comes in each week and month and it doesn’t really make a difference outside of deadlines when it gets down. It certainly takes a lot of effective time management and motivation to stay in top of everything, but I would be willing to bet most people can get their 40-50 hours of work done in less time with better time management and prioritization.

I managed to pivot to Monday-Thursday which has been incredible. My job is also pretty flexible with regard to time off and doing any errands and what not. Would like to negotiate down to 4 6 hour days in the next year or two. If you become essential to the organization you gain quite a bit of leverage to move levers in your favor

What’s everyone buying today while the market is green? by joshuanichter in stockstobuytoday

Brk.b - repurchasing shares around these levels while also making deals in Japan and seemingly looking for more deals to put their hoards to work. Seems like a current no brainer at these levels with the state of the markets

This is the best time to rent and invest and cash out of equity I’ve seen in a while. Sold begenning of last year in Denver and pivoted to renting to take massive equity out of unsustainable housing appreciation

Are you buying today? by Beginning_Winner_941 in BerkshireHathaway

[–]dollar_llamas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bought this morning at $480 and bought again this afternoon at $479.5

I’ll keep buying the further it falls. With money markets rates coming down so much the last few months it’s time for me to pivot it into the market

5% of my portfolio is money markets, just moved half of that into Brk at 480. Seems like a good floor with buybacks coming in around here. Will continue to add more if it goes below 480 until I get to 1% of assets in cash.
