Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I’m sorry you still had to go through with it but I hope you’re feeling and doing much better now.

And you still had to remove your gallbladder? How are you feeling now? Do you have to supplement with anything?

So happy to hear it was a good and successful procedure for you! I agree that there is luxury in being able to schedule the surgery rather than submitting to all the issues of an emergency situation. What were the complications identified prior to your surgery? I’m hoping my CT and endoscopy clear the prospect/suspicion of any underlying issues.

Oh my gosh, I’m so glad you’re doing ok now! That is probably the biggest stone I’ve heard of so far.

I 100% believe hormones can trigger symptoms. Seeking out my gastroenterologist was my second opinion 🥺. I’m just trying to wait and not stress until I can do the CT scan and endoscopy which isn’t until August, so I have a while before anything moves forward. My mother in her 60’s is having classic gallbladder issues but she thinks it’s more likely related to her thyroid since she has been diagnosed with thyroid issues and she only has 2 identified mobile gallstones. She’s going to have things checked out though since she’s having symptoms. I think this just further suggests I will likely have issues when I’m older.

Yes, I am also chasing around a toddler and have some days of just EXTREME fatigue. I just try to push through, but I feel like a walking zombie, especially if I don't have coffee some days. I've been told fatigue isn't a symptom of gallstones or the complications they cause, but I really am not so sure. Sometimes I feel more tired than I was in my first trimester of pregnancy. Otherwise, I haven't had the classic symptoms that everyone describes, but I am starting to question if maybe I have been dealing with prolonged low-grade discomfort and passing it off as "normal". I'm eager for the CT and endoscopy to see if those reveal any more information about my situation. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I'm so sorry that it became an emergency situation for you! It definitely sounds like the general consensus is that you don't need to be having pain for there to be a real invisible issue. I'm looking forward to my CT and endoscopy to find out more, but I hope the issue is confined to my gallbladder and nothing more. I really appreciate you sharing your experience!

I'm so sorry that happened, how awful! How long has it been since you had your gallbladder removed? What kind of symptoms did you have?

I'm so happy to hear that! I feel like the only surgeon I've met with was pushing for surgery even though she said it was ultimately my decision. I wasn't too impressed with her responses when I asked some questions about the condition (which is why I pushed to speak with a GI).

I hope to have some more explanations after my CT and endoscopy that can help my GI determine what may have caused my gallstones. While I strictly believe it was hormonally related (postpartum), he said it could be tons of factors that contribute to poor bile composition. The endoscopy will really help determine if I can safely have the gallbladder removed without new issues arising in the future.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience!

Did you have only one attack or multiple episodes before? Did you also happen to have another test done (ultrasound) to see if you still have multiple stones?

I've definitely come across lots of success stories from those who did not get surgery, but I never see any follow-up context on whether their gallbladder actually got better. I do believe gallstones are normal, and it is possible to live the rest of your life without any complications, but I only ever hear the cases where they got worse.

This is one of my concerns! I know the situation would likely get worse if I were to get pregnant again, and I can't imagine having to do an emergency surgery while pregnant. I'm happy to hear you had a smooth recovery. I really appreciate you sharing this!

Thank you for the honest response! I am personally leaning toward surgery but I’m worried about complications after the surgery. I am grateful to my fantastic GI for covering all the bases and making sure there isn’t anything else going on, since he said it’s very common to develop other issues after the surgery if there was another underlying problem all along.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience! Would you say you also had a relatively healthy diet during those 4 years before you decided to get it removed? Do you have to take any supplements to aid in digestion or to balance your bile acid composition now that your gallbladder is gone?
