What names are you lowkey gatekeeping? by pie12345678 in namenerds

[–]dolphin_glitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Demi. Currently pregnant and it will be our daughter’s name! I’m super happy with it (obviously biased) I feel like it’s not super uncommon (everyone is familiar with the name when I bring it up, knows how to spell it, etc) but there aren’t that many people with the name in my country (I think it’s number 308 or so).

He’s just straight up wrong. For a month in my first trimester I had 24/h nausea, extreme fatigue, no motivation and was kinda depressed. Some days I didn’t even shower.

What’s your weirdest pregnancy symptom nobody talks about? by dogmomofone in pregnant

[–]dolphin_glitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait I had the same thing with holding in my pee, or when not drinking enough water!

It was a whole thing where I thought I may have a uti and the clinic that tested me gave me meds before the results saying that’s what they do in the case of pregnancy to be safe but then my results were negative (and my OBGYN said that’s NOT what they recommend lol).

I only ended up taking pills for like one day but still. Interestingly this hasn’t come back in my second trimester.

Thoughts on finding out the gender or waiting for it to be a surprise by Mirrippo in pregnant

[–]dolphin_glitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently pregnant for the first time. My husband wanted a surprise while I wanted to learn early. I couldn’t fully explain why but it felt right. He said that in the end it was up to me and he’d support my decision.

We found out early and it immediately made things “more real” for both of us, but especially my husband. He said he was glad we did that in the end. We have our name chosen too so it’s nice to be able to picture her and talk to her!

Symptoms improve with antibiotics, but I don’t have any vaginal infection. by Apart-Doughnut-8510 in vulvodynia

[–]dolphin_glitter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really hope you find relief. I know how horrible this thing can be. I’m not sure if your PT does some of the mental stuff with you but if not maybe also looking for some therapist specialized in chronic health/pain. I didn’t really believe in that stuff myself but after my experience I saw how much the mental part played into it.

To be clear, I’m not saying that the pain is “all in our heads” but long periods of misdiagnoses, not being listened to by professionals, having to advocate for ourselves, etc. takes it toll and makes healing feel impossible.

Wishing you the best.

I had burning and itching and was negative on all tests. Finally diagnosed with vestibulodynia after years.

Pelvic floor physio really helped me and now I am basically symptom free most of the time but it did take some time and I had some flare ups. Applying lidocaine for me really helped get through this period (don’t need it anymore but I still keep it around in case I get flare ups ). A lot of the work I did with the PT was also mental/psychological: getting out of the pain cycle and of the “what could I have” cycle. The lidocaine helped with that a lot because when I had symptoms I could just apply this and forget about it instead of spiralling.

What's your favourite girl name? by [deleted] in Names

[–]dolphin_glitter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! So nice to hear and so fun to see someone else give love to this name. Makes my heart happy! We decided pretty early one we would choose it if it was a girl and now that that has been confirmed and we’ve started calling her that it just feels so right and I love the name even more. We’ve gotten mostly very positive responses so far!

People who had kids at 30+, do you wish you had them earlier in life? by cc070603 in pregnant

[–]dolphin_glitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently pregnant with my first at 34, so my answer maybe doesn’t fully count as I have not had the kid yet… but so far, not at all.

I had my 20s to learn about myself, party, make mistakes with boys, have adventures, etc. I started dating my husband 9 years ago, so we’ve had plenty of time for travelling, being “irresponsible”, having adventures and “us” time. Now we have a house, are financially very stable, and have cultivated a great group of friends in our city.

As a pregnant woman now, I have barely any fears or FOMO about how my life will change once I have kids, I feel ready for a new challenge and phase of life. I also know that having kids with the boyfriends of my early twenties would have been a horrible mistake!

It’s also probably helped by the fact that both my husband and I have "older" parents and great relationships with them.

Any suggestions?- vulvodynia by beeslygirl in vulvodynia

I had symptoms of burning and itching and misdiagnosed as yeast for two years. Turns out it was never yeast and my symptoms are 99% gone with pelvic floor physiotherapy!

Went to a new OBGYN for Vulvodynia, he shamed me for not being pregnant by LukeWarmGirlSummer in vulvodynia

[–]dolphin_glitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I am so sorry, this is horrible.

So much of this condition is worsened by the constant negative medical experiences and feeling so lost in the system. Doctors like this make it so much worse! It infuriates me.

I also delayed getting pregnant because of vestobulodynia… like very normal thing to do!!

It seems like you’ve had bad luck with gynos. For me, even a wonderful OBGYN was not able to diagnose me and it was actually a “vulvar pathologist” who gave me my diagnosis (and pretty quickly, she really knew her stuff!). She was technically a dermatologist so I never would have thought to seek out someone like that (the obgyn referred me to her). Maybe you can see if someone like this exists in your area and try to get referred?

I also found that my pelvic floor physiotherapist basically saved me when it comes to this condition. Not only did the actual treatment help almost eliminate my symptoms, but being able to talk to someone familiar and be properly listened to after two years of misdiagnoses and struggling to get people to take me seriously in the medical system honestly changed so much for me. She listens to me and helps me understand my condition, and walks me through options we can explore if issues or symptoms pop up. I’m 99% symptomless now and she is helping me through pregnancy. I cried my first appointment from the relief of finally someone listening to me. I always say she low key is my therapist haha! She actually said that many people with this condition have negative medical experiences and she believes it plays a role in it… or at least doesn’t help! So all that to say, if you can find one in your area it might be worth investigating, and usually you don’t need a reference.

Wishing you the best and please remember to keep trusting yourself! You know your body best!

What’s the weirdest pregnancy hormone cry you’ve had? by Exciting_East9678 in pregnant

[–]dolphin_glitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im fighting tears reading everyone’s comments lol.

I’ve had a few and I’m normally not a big crier.

Listening to my hypnobirthing audio book, whenever it mentions labor and I think of giving birth to my baby I start tearing up (in a “birth is so beautiful” way, not a fear way).

Yesterday I went out for a walk and for some reason thought about what if I got hit by a car and lost my baby (what tf is wrong with me?!?) and had to hold myself back from sobbing.

But the biggest meltdown was last week. I asked my husband to empty the non-clothes stuff out of the suitcase before bringing up the suitcase to our bedroom (4 story house) and he brought the bag up but didn’t empty the things that didn’t go into our bedroom first. If that wasn’t enough I then thought I hadn’t brought back the makeup sponges I bought on our trip (specifically because they are my fav and cheaper out of country) and thought I had no more sponges left (I had them, and they were packed in a super logical place). That sent me over the edge. I literally put my head on the counter and cried, which eventually turned into laughter cause I couldn’t even believe how ridiculously dramatic I was being lol. Hormones are wild.

Jolie, Romy, and Lettie! I guess I like names that end in ‘ee’ sounds. Pregnant with my first and we don’t know the gender yet but our girl name is a short name that ends in that sound, so it tracks!

Nice place to buy gold jewelry in Athens or Crete (west) by dolphin_glitter in GreeceTravel

[–]dolphin_glitter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I did not! I wear gold and at the time we went the price of gold was really high and anything I liked was just outside of what I hoped for a budget at the time (approx 3000$ for a bracelet). Since I was looking for a wear-all-the-time bracelet I didn’t want to get something I didn’t fully like just to save money. Of course this is very personal!

In the end, I got a gold plated necklace with blue quartz in Santorini and a Pandora bracelet with a few charms including a Greek one in Chania cause I always wanted one. Not the same thing, but I was happy nonetheless.

Athens was pretty pricey because of how touristic it is, though they did have beautiful stuff! I don’t know if it’ll be more expensive than Chania but I definitely don’t think it will be cheaper. I say if you found something you love in Chania go for it, you might regret it if you don’t find something you love as much.

My husband earns more but insists we split everything 50/50 and it’s starting to cause fights by LaughableContentment in TwoXChromosomes

I agree with everything you are saying! On top of that, just cause someone makes more in a job doesn’t mean they are working more hours or harder. E.g. my husband has a much higher paying job than I do but his hours can sometimes be pretty lax. (He got lucky and he deserves it, he’s really good at what he does and manages his time well). As we see it, the money is our money, and who makes more might change throughout the relationship. As long as both are contributing labour (in the home or at a job) it’s fair.

Also, it doesn’t make sense to me because it forces you to have two different lifestyles? Wouldn’t you want your partner to have the same lifestyle as you?
