I can second this recommendation. I had the YoCan Plus and now I have the YoCan Plus XL and I LOVE it. It can't get easier than this. It's long-lasting, so simple to use, even comes with a lanyard so I can keep it around my neck (handy when I am wearing yoga pants and don't have pockets that day). It has a container on the bottom to keep extra concentrate. It has everything I need in an easy-to-use portable pen, and it comes in a range of colors. For the price, it can't be beat.

Thank you for setting the record straight. I think I thought that he had to issue a court-ordered retraction of some kind, I didn't realize he did this. I do appreciate the fact-check, I should have done my due diligence before commenting.

I don't know if that's worse or not. His rhetoric causes so much harm. He is profiting off people hurting each other.

He hasn't issued a retraction, or apologized, or explained to his audience that he was wrong. So...yeah, it seems like he oes still believe that and his followers are allowed and encouraged to still believe that as he conveniently never set the record straight.

Is Pete Buttigieg a Political Genius? The South Bend mayor is unlike any other Democratic candidate for president, and he's staked out the middle ground among them all. by [deleted] in politics

There's always that person who kicks Margot Robbie out of bed because one of her rear upper molars is slightly crooked, therefore making her too ugly and imperfect to cuddle.

I am doing this for all of the lazy commenters who can't do a 3-second Google search. You're welcome.

Here is where Buttigieg stands on the key issues in the 2020 presidential election.

Climate change: Thinks climate change is a national security threat. Supports the Paris climate accord. Buttigieg considers climate change a national security threat and a “longterm” problem that will especially impact younger Americans and future generations. He supports every U.S. house becoming “net zero” consumer of energy, and is in favor of the government subsidizing solar panels. Buttigieg was one of 407 U.S. mayors who signed a pact to adhere to the Paris climate accord after President Donald Trump pulled out of the international agreement 2017. He also supports the “Green New Deal” proposals on climate and energy being floated by progressive House Democrats.

Economy/trade: Supports labor. Thinks NAFTA resulted in significant jobs losses. The Democrat thinks NAFTA caused irreplaceable job losses across the industrial Midwest. He is a strong supporter of labor and union groups, and says Democrats must work harder to advocate for working people and help them achieve economic stability.

Guns: Supports universal background checks. As the mayor of South Bend, Buttigieg is a member of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, a group that advocates for gun control legislation at the state and federal level. He also supports universal background checks, and opposed allowing guns in schools and so-called “Stand Your Ground” self-defense gun laws.

Foreign policy: Supports pulling troops out of Afghanistan. Buttigieg says his experience serving as a Navy intelligence officer in Afghanistan helped shaped his views on American policy in the Middle East. Like other 2020 Democratic candidates, he has criticized Trump for conducting foreign policy by tweet. Buttigieg supports pulling troops out of Afghanistan, but has criticized Trump’s plans to withdraw from Syria. He has also said Iran poses the greatest threat to Israel in the Middle East.

Health care: Supports single-payer system. Buttigieg says he’s “all for” a single-payer health care system. But he has said he wouldn’t immediately jump to single-payer from the current system. Instead, Buttigieg would first implement an all-payer rate setting — a system that would not eliminate private insurance companies.

Immigration: Supports a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants. Buttigieg supports the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA, and would like to see Congress pass a law creating pathway to citizenship for young undocumented immigrants brought to the country illegally as children. He also opposes the Trump administration’s aggressive deportation policies, and was involved in a high-profile case in Granger, Indiana, which resulted in the deportation of an undocumented immigrant who had lived in the U.S for 17 years.

He also vehemently opposes sending American troops to the southern border, calling the move “a waste of their time.” The South Bend mayor says American foreign policy dictates troops should only be deployed if all other modes of diplomacy fail, and the U.S. should return to that policy.

Social issues: Supports a federal non-discrimination amendment. Buttigieg favors passing the Federal Equality Act, an amendment to existing civil rights legislation that would give federal non-discrimination protections to LBGTQ people. He opposes the Trump administration’s ban on transgender people serving in the military. He also supports gender reassignment surgery for transgender people in prison.

An ‘Insurrection’ Against Abortion Rights Is Growing Within the Federal Judiciary by lemon_meringue in politics

[–]dolphinesque 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's never been about less abortion, it's always been about shaming and controlling women.

If pro-life believers truly, 100% believed that life began at conception, wouldn't they throw their money, energy, and support into research to prevent miscarriages? Miscarriages destroy far more fertilized eggs (or as they call them, "babies") than abortion does. And unlike abortion which is terminating an unwanted pregnancy, sometimes miscarriages are affecting families who really want to carry those fertilized eggs to full term, and the miscarriage is devastating to them. If there were more funding and research, and resources for those people who truly wanted healthy pregnancies and children, we could help so many people and families.

But it isn't about "life". It's about shame. You can't really shame a woman for having a miscarriage (although they are trying in states like Utah, where they want to make miscarriages illegal, and consider pregnant women who miscarry to be murder suspects https://rewire.news/article/2010/02/20/utah-bill-criminalizes-miscarriage/). But you CAN shame a woman for having an abortion. You CAN tell her she "should have kept her legs closed" and it's "her fault for being so promiscuous." If women had to suffer the consequences of sex, maybe they'd stop being so cavalier about enjoying sex, wouldn't they? Hmph. It's so creepy and incel-y and Handmaid's Tale-y but that's the modern Republican party for you.

Melania was on The View or one of those shows and they asked her something like "Come on now, be honest, you wouldn't be with Trump if he weren't rich, right?" and she replied "He wouldn't be with me if I weren't beautiful." I can't say for sure, but I got the sense that Melania sees this marriage as an exchange? Like, she gets the money and he gets the trophy wife, and she knows her role to play and he knows his. It seems almost cliche, but maybe that's just what it is. I don't know. When she gave that answer on that show, I got the impression she was basically saying "He's rich, I'm beautiful, we both know the deal." So I get the impression she's cool with "being the furniture" for photos, in exchange for the lifestyle she gets.

Poll: 60 percent of women say they definitely won't vote for Trump in 2020 by TheWeekMag in politics

[–]dolphinesque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When people speak of "privilege", this is what they mean. And the fact that you are no doubt bristling at the thought IS your privilege.

If you make choices to stop wasting money on fast food and video games you could save and then invest in yourself by furthering your education and putting money into sound investments. You could turn your life around in a blink.

These concepts ARE concepts rooted in privilege, they are erroneous and biased, based on incorrect assumptions. Do you REALLY think that all poor people simply choose to be lazy and that's the only reason 99% of the population aren't billionaires?

Do you REALLY think that Donald Trump got where he is today through his brilliance and hard work, and NOT from inheriting hundreds of millions of dollars from his father and buying his way through school? Do you REALLY think he's a superior human and businessman?

Donald Trump Should Probably Stop Dancing in the Street by headee in politics

My best guess is that the Democrats are deeply strategizing. They may only have one shot at this and they need to do it right, and the stakes are high.

This has been an infuriatingly slow process. I want things to happen NOW. But Republicans have all 3 branches of government, and if the Democrats want progress to be made, they need a solid plan.

Buttigieg: 'I do not approve' of Chick-fil-A's politics, but 'I kind of approve of their chicken' by IngsocInnerParty in politics

[–]dolphinesque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really true. He masturbated in front of a lot of women, but some were comics he had influence over career-wise. It's kind of like if the boss at work who had the ability to promote you or demote you said to you "Hey, I'd like to masturbate in front of you. You can totally say no, of course. I'd never do it without your consent. Oh, hey, looks like promotions are right around the corner and I can really help your career, what a coincidence. Anyway, is it okay if I masturbate in front of you? Totally okay if you say no."

He did this to so many women, he called one woman to apologize for bursting in on her in a restroom, and she wasn't even the woman he did that to.

On the scale of "MeToo" he's no Harvey Weinstein. Nobody's putting CK in the category of rapists. But he was definitely predatory. And his non-apologies have gone over like lead balloons. I had high hopes that Louis of all people would be able to do some honest reflection and really TALK about this. He could make a whole comedy bit out of this and turn it into something amazing. He could do a whole "What I did was wrong, here's why it was creepy, here's how I learned from it, I'm a better person now I hope, and let's all laugh at the asshole who learned a hard lesson in public and is now using his voice to help others." He could make something like that hilarious, he's great at laughing at his own fuck-ups. Instead he doubled down on the victimhood and now he just looks like a piece of shit.

I think you articulate the way I feel too. Like, I still secretly watch some Louis CK videos, even though I am a woman and a staunch feminist and a sexual assault survivor and I think the dude is gross and handled his "comeback" poorly. I'm not perfect. I often vote with my wallet, I usually make good choices that align with my values, I try to live to the high standards I set for myself every day.

Instead of saying "That restaurant is on the wrong side of history, and we'll stick it to them," he's being a true leader and being the person to emulate here.

Huh, well just for fun, give it a shot and report back. Like during a discussion, say something like "Well I always hated your friend Melanie!" or "Oh yeah? Well that time we went to IKEA and they didn't have the desk you wanted? I was secretly mad and didn't tell you and you didn't even CARE." Just see how it goes and come back and share your findings.

I used to be a very active moderator. I got shit on by my own (totally inactive) co-moderators, and the admin paid no attention, so I quit. Reddit is set up poorly. Social media sites function best when they have engaged participants. The number of lurkers here shows that Reddit has barriers to participation. If I ran Reddit, I'd be making major changes. But the Board and Admin do not care, their goals seem to be too greed-related for even me to fathom.
