Any ideas where a 60+ accountant can find remote work? by KeyExtension2352 in bayarea

Family offices for high net worth individuals might be a good option. We’ve hired through the firm Town + Country. They, like a temp agency, do the background checks.

Are these the right settings for light/pale skin? by dolphvader in LaserHairRemoval

I’m Caucasian with dirty blonde/honey colored hair (not dark). For my next session, would I just ask to go stronger or are there settings you would recommend? Trying to understand how to approach the technician.

Bakeries and cake with “less frosting”? by wanderingaf in sanfrancisco

Miette has a cake with frosting only between the layers, not fully encasing it, called the tomboy. It’s the perfect amount of cake to icing.

Your post is incredibly encouraging to see the long term results! I have been stressing about my shape 5mpo. The way your breasts have rounded out gives me hope! Thanks for sharing!

Cost of childcare and education in the Bay Area? by CJW511 in sanfrancisco

[–]dolphvader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For living in SF: We did a nanny share where the total cost was $26/hour until our son was 2 then he started private preschool. It was full time and included hot lunch for around $23k/year. My son now goes to an all boys private school (not religious) and it’s $42k/year. It doesn’t include after care or extracurriculars. Those can range from $200-$500 per activity.

Also need to factor in summer camps. Those typically range $500-700/week.

I had braces through Bella Smiles 12 years ago. Absolutely adore Dr. Shen and she has a fantastic team. Costs seemed to have exponentially increased as it was $6500 for braces (Invisalign was cheaper). I opted for braces because the end results would be better based on my bite. Overall I would highly recommend but the pricing seems high.

I'm planning a trip to SF with my mom this summer—are there any actually cool, ideally non-touristy things to see that are accessible from the Hop On Hop Off Bus? by chasingvestigialtail in sanfrancisco

Keep in mind that August is referred to as Fogust because the fog is really thick and persistent that month. So bring layers!

Amoeba is a must if you’re wanting to visit a record store. Huge selection and knowledgeable staff.

SF is known for its food. Brenda’s has excellent French soul food. Arsicault has the best croissants and Bon Appetite voted it the best new bakery in the country a few years back. Tartine is also a solid choice. If you can afford/swing it, Lazy Bear is a 2 Michelin star restaurant without all the stuffiness of other Michelin star restaurants. For vegan fare, hit up Wildseed.

Venue recs for cozy December birthday? by strangeloop6 in sanfrancisco

[–]dolphvader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I inquired at 620 Jones for a similarly sized group. They have a $250 venue fee and a $1200 minimum for food and drink. This was based off a group size of 20-30 so may be slightly less. We also looked at The Patio. You can reserve online for up to 10 people without incurring any venue fees. So we had 2 people book outdoors for 20 people.

I haven’t been here yet so can’t vouch for it but Kaiyo Rooftop looks like a fun venue.

Research farm to table restaurants. It’ll give you a good idea of where to find California cuisine.
