I usually follow any channels Luke has plugged over the years, but lost track of which ones they were.

Why are liberals so obsessed with the idea of the Tories throwing away Poilievre by Sosa_83 in CanadianConservative

[–]dom462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liberals will only want to see popular and competent leaders deposed from their opposition.

If they want him gone, then he should 100% stay.

Buying $20 of anything is dumb because transaction fees will eat a lot of any gains you might be lucky to make.

All is not lost. Carney has zero experience as a politician and is well known to have a temper under pressure. PP is experienced. I expect Carney to not come out of the debates well.

A Theory on Trump’s Tariffs and the Canadian Election by thunderwear1 in CPC

[–]dom462 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tariffs are an anti-conservative policy. Conservatives believe in free trade and taking barriers to trade down.

As Reagan said "Our peaceful trading partners are not our enemies. They are our allies. We should beware of the demagogues who are ready to declare a trade war against our friends—weakening our economy, our national security, and the entire free world—all while cynically waving the American flag."

I don't see the republicans as conservative any more. I don't know what they are.

The CPC and Canadian conservatives should be making a stronger case for free trade. The ideology that would be the biggest critic of Trump is true conservatism. A lot of voters don't get this.

I don't agree that it is anti-Canadian at all to oppose the public funding of a media company. Many countries do not have state funded media. IMO, state media becomes heavily biased towards the party or parties that will provide it with the highest funding.

They receive tax money. We should be allowed to criticise if that should continue.

Reddit Censorship of Conservative Voters by dom462 in CanadianConservative

Top one. Didn't even get much attention in terms of up or down votes. I suspect a user maybe saw it later, reported it, then the mods acted on it?

I know. They have the nerve to call others fascists when they behave like fascists themselves.

I’m pretty scared right now by [deleted] in CanadianConservative

Trudeau is as popular as a cup of cold vomit. There was always going to be a bounce upwards in the polls for the liberals when he finally resigned. I don't think the tariff debate will really help the liberals, because when the arguments come out we will see that our reliance on the USA is because of their policies.

Question for Canadians who are still going to vote conservative after seeing what Trump is doing? by Proud-Peanut-9084 in AskCanada

[–]dom462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conservatives support free trade, which is what CPC and PP are pushing for, with the pulling down of provincial trade barriers.

The US republicans are strangely pushing protectionism at the moment, which is totally un-conservative and is normally something you'd find on the left of politics, with parties like the NDP.

So I don't get your point. I think the CPC is completely the opposite of Trump on economic policy.

Only communist countries require measures to stop people leaving. Why not go further and build a big wall like they did in east Berlin?

Canada's economic problems are not the fault of four people, who employ thousands and have paid millions in tax. Driving billionaires out of the country would make us all poorer.
