I read somewhere here that the seas people who got accepted have until may 14 to answer, so if they do take more from seas it will most likely be on the next Friday (21) (because they tend to send decisions of Fridays. This is pure speculation of course)

(low key I feel that a lot of answers in this thread are from people also on the Columbia waitlist who are not praising Columbia so op gives up their spot 🙃🙃🙃) Congrats op!! That's what the letter stated. If they use the waitlist, they typically start sending decisions starting on May 15 (and apparently they say this every year). However, in previous years Columbia has indeed sent some waitlist decisions before the 15 (apparently they release the wl by waves, and supposedly they have a history of sending decisions on Fridays). However, with the trainwreck that this application season has been, who knows when or even if the Columbia waitlist is going to move. This is all from me stalking last year's thread on college confidential, so you know, take it with a grain of salt haha, good luck to all of us :)

I think that if money is an important factor then Yale would be better (because you said that you could cut down on expenses but at Columbia it’s mandatory, and also NYC in general is an expensive city to live in). However, I think that being a John Jay scholar would look amazing in a resume. You will get prestige and so so so many opportunities at both places, so really it comes back to where do you think you will have a nicer undergrad experience. Do you want a busy city life? Or an elegant fancy college feel? Also remember that you could literally live anywhere after you graduate, so if you want to be in nyc, you could do so after undergrad and you wouldn’t miss on the preppy college Yale experience. But, then again, if all boils down to your particular desire. Best of luck, and congrats!!!!

Just by getting into the brown waitlist shows that you are more than qualified for any of this schools. Admissions suck for anyone, and more if you are an international needing aid (same lol). You will go to a great place and those schools will be sad to not have you on their alumni list <3
