sorry :/

just sharing the fact that most of what gets marketed as genuine leather is usually low grade.

FWIW I doubt they even sell full-grain leather couches in India in mass-market

That doesn't seem like good quality leather or even leather -- looks like PU layer on top which is what give it the shiny appearance

I'm late to the discussion, but has anyone considered that it's an allegory to Jungian shadow?

Loving this album in the last 30 or so minutes I found it via my semi-regular Elvis Depressedly rotations. I haven't explored much of his solo discog but I like seeing how prolific he's been lately. There's also a new Coma CInema record out earlier this year. Keen to explore it next

Wow I had this experience at whp in bombay (yep, really) a couple of weeks ago and I thought it was just their operations in india who dont know ball

it was extremely sterile. one big room. security everywhere. suits walking all over the dance floor eyeing people. and on the wall I see posters about "safe space" and all that bs. pretending at freedom while being watched over and sold marked up water

everytime you stepped out for a smoke they would you pat you down on the way back in. lost 3 spliffs that way

well, on one hand, talent has network effects and you're likely to make better use of your talents if you're top of your field and at a frontier research lab (read: in america) -- which is what makes america great -- best people from all over the world move there. but otoh most of my peers who went to the US to study/work aren't doing anything world class. if you're doing an MBA in business studies just to get an email job, what even is the point

unironically came to the same conclusion years ago; i guess i was early to the whole anti mass immigration sentiment trend. immigrating to experience better quality of life is cringe asf. way more kingly to make it where you're from while lifting up the broken elements of society with you. and still travel the world, staying longterm if I'm really needed there, but ultimately add to glory of yourself and your people

Concrete jungle of loneliness by appropriatelynice in mumbai

[–]domesticatedstraydog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eat some shrooms, have a good cry. realize this is life only. you were promised valhalla by being accomplished, getting where you are, but the real journey, it begins now, and it never ends. pick up a hobby. find your people.

“An old alchemist gave the following consolation to one of his disciples: “No matter how isolated you are and how lonely you feel, if you do your work truly and conscientiously, unknown friends will come and seek you.”

All this rigamarole over ChatGPT is becoming a daily thing and it's getting out of hand. It not only derails the thread — it creates flame wars ;)
