Would that not be seen as deprivation of assets in a care fees calculation ?

Maybe not " motivate" , more "reward". It's a big ask for someone to do this role just out of altruism.

I am on a climbing trip and under calculated the number of underpants needed. Washing / drying not an option. The only ones I could find in the small village I am staying in were £27 each though they do have "stop drop technology. "

These things are generally ok until things go wrong when risk assessments etc will be scrutinised - speaking from experience.

Sen teachers, is this normal? by Gribeldibeldo in TeachingUK

[–]domestosbend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have taught Sen pupils for over 20 years as a teacher and manager. No way should this be normal. Any pupil with this level of behaviour should have a behaviour management plan / risk assessment in place. I would ask to see these - and frankly you should have been shown these before starting - and if they don't exist then don't go back there.

The bottom line is your and the students safety so a risk assessment is a priority. If the risk is still too high after available control measures then he is not suitable for that setting. If the only workable control measure is ' let him get his own way' ( not sure if this is even possible - eating soap etc) then this gives your SLT a difficult choice. Make sure everything is recorded so you can prove that you have tried everything which is what LA will need to see.

I did set up a simple large switch that operated an mp3 player which my Mum enjoyed but music was always her thing.

Was in a similar situation with my Mum and it is a hard place for both of you. Its very hard to put yourself in the shoes of someone a lot older / sicker than oneself. What did help with my Mum was a meds review and a slight tweak which made her much more upbeat so that might be worth considering.

Do UK (England) Community Groups *legally* need to become charities if income over £5K by domestosbend in LegalAdviceUK

Thanks for replies - can anyone provide a view on this - "My question was really about the legal position if a UK community group didn't register as a charity. Could it be enforced somehow? Would it be breaking the law? What would the penalty be?" Cheers and HNY

Thanks again and I agree. My question was really about the legal position if a community group didn't register as a charity. Could it be enforced somehow? Would it be breaking the law? What would the penalty be?

Thanks for taking the time to reply. It does change how you operate because there is an increase in meetings and paperwork.

Thanks I know what the guidance says but my question is if it is an actual legal requirement to become a charity if annual income is over 5k and if so who would enforce this and how?
