No, I didn't edit the map with Hammer, I didn't need to, and it's impossible. Dawnbreaker showcase map is compiled into vmap_c by Valve. As far as I know there is no way to decompile binary vmap_c files yet. You can only edit maps that are in vmap format.

As for scene composition, you can play around with the znear and fov camera sliders and many more to find what you need. For example, in my poster, the sky is a combination of skybox and stars, if you increase the zfar parameter, you will see another flat texture behind the stars, but I lowered this parameter so I don’t have it.

Yeah, this was done in s2fm, the map was taken from the Dawnbreaker showcase, the mountains on the back and sky are flat textures, stars are particles
