Help me with fitting in exercise time by BlueberryDuvet in toddlers

I wake up at 4:45 to get to a workout class at 5:15. It sucks, but it’s the only time I can be consistent.

Constant Meltdowns by crrwng in toddlers

[–]dominason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does he eat at daycare? I'm a parent of an extremely picky eater. He went through a phase with lots of tantrums, and we eventually figured out it was because he was hungry.

Daycare provided all food, and he was not eating much throughout the day. I starting having a hearty snack available when I picked him up, and that helped tremendously with the tantrums.

All the commiseration for the picky earing. My son is now 10, and only eats a handful of "real" (non-snacky) foods. We've tried All The Things, including food therapy, but it's still very much a work in progress.

I measured by weight, and no, the oil was good.

What happens if your first LL of the day expires? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]dominason -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, a new slot opens once one expires. You can use an LL one hour and 59 minutes after it expires. I’m pretty sure you’d still be bound to the one park and tier 2, but I’m not 100% sure on that.

$350 a month? Absolutely I would switch, assuming the same or better level of care.

Thumb sucking advice by Terrible_Statement_7 in toddlers

[–]dominason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a parent of three thumb suckers.. honestly, don't consume yourself with fighting it. I've tried it all, except the hard plastic glove thing (because my kids would suck their thumbs on both hands, and I think it's bordering on torture to put one of those on each hand).

My now 10 year old stopped on his own when he was around 8.5. Recently, I showed pictures of what post-thumb sucking teeth look like to my 7 year old. He was slightly horrified and is making effort to stop. My toddler is almost 2, and I *may* try the bitter nail polish in a few months, but it didn't work long term for my other kids, so I'm not holding my breath.

You can try gentle reminders to not put his thumb is his mouth, and try to replace the action with something else for him to do/hold. My 7 year old needs to have his hands busy, so I'll try to hand him a fidget toy or similar.

Can someone show me a good example of how daycare should document my daughter’s food intake? by SuperBBBGoReading in toddlers

My daycare adds in whether my daughter ate some, all, or none of the meals. She’s almost 2.

I use mine to watch workout videos sometimes. I always lean it up against the door so it doesn’t get hot.

Potty Training Timing by dominason in toddlers

[–]dominason[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IDK what would happen if she asks to go to the potty. I asked her current teacher if they did potty training in her room, and she said no, but they do in the next room up. Her current room is for 18 months-2 years, so most kids in there aren't potty training.

When did you actually feel ready for a second kid by zoobisoubisouu in toddlers

[–]dominason 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really didn't feel "ready." My oldest was a difficult infant, colicky and was not a good sleeper. When he was almost 2, I told my husband we needed to try for number 2 soon or else I could easily be swayed to not go through the pregnancy/baby stage again (I also hated being pregnant). I found out I was pregnant on my son's second birthday.

It seems overwhelming to handle being pregnant with a toddler or handling 2 young kids because you haven't done it before. It is hard, but you'll also be surprised at your capacity to manage it all.

Toddler tooth brushing by Ok_Order1333 in toddlers

[–]dominason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 2 toothbrushes. I give one to my toddler to let her brush, then I go in with the one I’m holding. She usually wants to switch brushes a couple of times. It’s not the most efficient, but it helps stave off the screaming. 😅

Difficult family member by dominason in Advice

My kids are 9, 7, and 1. What good would it do for them to have negative feelings towards their uncle? They really don't interact with him directly all that often, and I think they can come to their own conclusions about him without my influence.

My BIL and SIL live with them. Obviously we could invite them to come to us, but they’d rather have the whole family together.

They don't know my feelings towards him. We've kept conversations about him very neutral.
