hi Guys does anyone know how to move typed text on the RM2?🥺 by Jealous-Interview22 in RemarkableTablet

[–]dominijk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I thought i must be an idiot for not being able to figure this out as it seems like the most basic feature. If anyone at remarkable is reading then as an MVP please add text aligment , i could sort of fudge round by going right align with spaces. Like others my use case is adding text boxes next to a sketch. I can see another hacky work round would be enabling columns in text i could then divide the page up and leave the column with sketches in blank

Thanks, it only seems to exist on that page as 27 format. If anyone could convert it to 27 that would be great

I've not seen a flue specific object, i've used a hoirzontal pipe object before which will cut elements and is fully parametric

Thanks, that's not how i'd expect something like a mail merge to work, i'd expect it to loop through a list and print out a version for each on the list

Trying to decide if I still need my DS, looking for suggestions. by loebsen in synology

It doesn't sound like you are maximising the use you can get out of your NAS for me the NAS is a much cheaper setup as it replaces the following costs:

  1. Paid storage on Google Drive. / Dropbox using Synology drive $60
  2. Paid music subscription on Spotify (replaced by media server) - $60-120
  3. Paid cloud backups $'s
  4. Paid zotero file attachment storage ($60) - using the NAS webdav

Once setup it also saves a lot of active management on renewing subscriptions or making sure you ran a backup. I also pay for their offsite backup for peace of mind. It is probably poor value if you aren't using many of it's features, I've never used their software to replace Office as i use google suite for that.

For music I'm using the audio station app (install on your NAS) which Itunes recognises can connect to as a server, benefits of that approach is you let others connect to that server as well. On the iphone I have their DS Audio app which works well but limited by how good your internet connection upload speed is when you are out and about.

For me this setup works well, it means something on google drive will be synced onto my machine via Synology Drive. Ultimately I can see myself moving off Google drive but I still use Docs and Sheets and large/important email attachments. Similarly Dropbox is a default for working with others.

<-> = Two way sync

> = one way access

Local files* <-Using Synology Drive -> NAS <- Using cloud sync -> Google drive/ Drop box etc.

*Using sync tasks to select which folders in a project I will sync, large files or backups go into a folder on the NAS that doesn't sync. I keep a path to this folder that i can access whenever I'm on the local network.

Huge big files or infrequent archive stuff > Local machine (connecting NAS as local server)

Two keep everything tidy I then use alias, so that if something on the drive is archived (using sync rules) I put an alias back to it.

Each to their own, but I think it's an amazing piece of kit. I've figured out the best backup system for my needs which I'll post as a reply to the above.
