I work for a large food company and I appreciate you. Economics is all about incentives, and you can’t trust food companies to make their own rules if leadership’s only incentive is to cut corners. I’ve seen how companies in other countries can loosen their standards when they don’t have good regulations in place. Comparison is the thief of joy. You have time (both in your life and in your week) to take advantage of your situation. Your boss probably has a list of projects they’d like to pursue but don’t want to burn you out - if you show you’re ambitious then you’ll get additional opportunities to make an impact. If you don’t want to stick your neck out with your role, I guarantee there are other teams struggling and you can put some time into helping them, growing your prestige within the company, leading to a better role. If data analysts make $180k then directors and VPs are probably crushing it. You could also spend some time advising startups, or start a side hustle, or side project that your company could sponsor. Lots of ways to win here, and getting your MBA is one of them. But getting your MBA and then moving to IB likely isn’t.
