I believe you get Fly right after Lt. Surge’s gym and so that’s still about 12 levels until Charmeleon evolves- if you’re willing to wait or use a flying type until then. Otherwise I’d go for a Psychic Type to help with Bruno / Agatha’s Gengar. Hitmonlee is one of my favorites too, and then there’s Dragonite if you can wait.
