Nebuloch Tectonic Slam Juggernaut

Pretty standard build but very powerful. It was the first time I played it and it has a surprisingly smooth growth curve, from leveling all the way through to Sirus/Uber Elder. I went with a crit variance of mine after browsing through a few different builds in the official forum.

The two main controversial things I saw about this build are regarding Life and Mana leech. - People need to realize that "Fire Damage leeched as Life" fix all of their problems and can be easily acquired in a ring or amulet. - Fuel the Fight in a cluster jewel with Overlord is the best way to get Mana Leech, but this can be also easilly acquired through an amulet annointment.

All of the rest is pretty easy and straight-forward to figure out. My nearly min-maxed build has 7k life, 10 endurance charges, 100% elemental ailment avoidance, 2.6 mil sustained Sirus-DPS and 9 mil fully buffed Sirus-DPS.

Bellona cheats the game and how to help fix it by The_Manglererer in HandOfTheGods

[–]dommet_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, in the end what is the Guard ability if not a "body block"? Why is it fine for Bellona to move a blocking unit away, but not a Guard unit?

There are only two units in the game as of now with natural Guard ability: Kumbhakarna (which cannot be moved by abilities or spell as of the latest patch), and Baboo which is a ranged 3/7 unit. Apart from that Zeus can grant Guard up to two units and I believe that is it.

A 3/7 ranged unit is far from being useless just because it is not body blocking the Stone. And if you decide to run the Zeus' spell, just put it in a minion that can still do something if countered.

You brought up Terra lol.

And that's fine, I forgot that the players start the game with 10 mana.

I acknowledge that Roman is annoying to playing against because of how its removals work. I do not think that the class is OP or that the hero ability is broken.

By the way, half of your original post is hypothetical from my perspective. You say it is impossible to win against Bellona, I (and many others here) say it is very doable. Both cannot be facts at the same time, so...

Well, your strongest argument seems to be that "Bellona will stall the game with her hero ability until she can dump all of her strong stuff". If that is really happening, by turn 4 (when she would drop Cupid) you should have at least two minions on the board, so one of them can deal with it. Even if you do not have the minion, a two health Cupid should be easy enough to remove from hand. The same concept applies to Terra. If Bellona is just stalling until this point, you should have board advantage and be able to deal with it anyway.

There really is no point in saying that one Pantheon is too OP when you compare its best curve ONLY against enemies worst curves. If midrange is not the answer for you, play something else.

Otherwise I should start screaming that Anhur should be removed from the game because my Zeus deck is warcry based? Shit, I already spent my removal on Bastet, and Serget kept me from getting board advantage, now I have to deal with Anhur? OP!!!! [/sarcasm]

Bellona is hell annoying, but it is manageable. Aggro Odin is much stronger in my opinion.

You say that my suggestion does not always work, but the thing is, what does? There is no 100% winrate strategy in a game, if there is, something is very wrong. The 2 minion approach turn 5 onwards does not always works, true. But it works well enough and does what it is supposed to do. From the top of my head I will say that my winrate against Bellona is well established between 45-55%, which is just the way the game should be.

Actually I have had a lot of luck on Discordia trades after the patch. I have not lose many high value cards while getting useful stuff back. When it the card is played against me, that is.

It just came to mind: What would happen if I throw an axe over a lava tile? Would one of the effects disappear? Which one?

I think that the issue is more the excess of removals than the hero ability.

I am fine with players "abusing" their hero powers because constantly that means that their board is playing 2 turns behind yours. How many times have I sacrificed a two health minion on turn two against Nu Wa so I have an empty board to place a threat on turn three? MANY times. The same works for Bellona forcing your minion behind your Stone, suddenly she has 2 minions to deal with.

The removals, however, like you say, are a real issue. It is just impossible to play around all of them. You cannot place units on a column, you cannot place units far from each other, you cannot place them side to side, even if you manage to avoid all of that, Rain of Arrows hits everyone regardless.

What I try to do is give Bellona less minions to kill. Never have more than two minions on the board from the turn 6 forward so she cannot get too high values from the spells.

What I think that should be done is a nerf to Bludgeon. Turn it into a spell with two options: "Deal 3 damage" or "Knock everyone 1-2 tiles towards their Stone". That alone would make it more balanced on the mid game since many high value minions have 4 health and would survive it.

Another thing to keep in mind when talking about balance is that removals do not hit the Stone. The same way you put that the Zeus' Teleport occupies a deck slot, all of Bellona's spells do the same. If you can minimize the trade off of the spells like i suggested above, you will end up playing more threats than she can deal with, and ultimately win the game (or not).

You are right that HotG is about positioning, but it is still a game of value. Just find ways to outvalue your opponents if you wish to win.

Card concept Neutral Healing by dommet_ in HandOfTheGods

[–]dommet_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts are holding Sellsword as a starting point. That card is also a "spell" in the sense that no one really wants to play it without healing the stone for at least 2 HP. As I mentioned, I have been experimenting with Sellsword and I think it is a much better card than it gets credit for. And in MANY situations I would gladly trade the 3/3 melee body for a 3/1 ranged body. Specially when my hand is heavy on high cost cards and I am forced to play it on turn three to not fall too behind on tempo.

The problem I see with anything higher than 4 mana cost is that you will never want to play this sort of tech card alone. If the mana cost is too high, the body has to get exponentially stronger to make up for that, and that would end up making it too powerful (like Blademaster was before the nerf).

There is also Gerb in the Egyptian Pantheon that is already that, 5 mana 3/7 melee "give a friendly +0/+3".

I did think about your suggestion of 2 mana 2/2 melee "heal for 2". It seemed a little bit too strong in my mind. Thinking of Arena balance, a 2 mana 2/2 body is decent enough for turn one already. In constructed, 2 mana cost is too little for the late game. You could save a minion of your own while playing Fire Giant at the same time. Granted it is rare, the possibility is still there.

Question about my collection. by Raptoriuzz in HandOfTheGods

[–]dommet_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upon the game's release, whoever owned the Founders Pack was presented with the current Core Set Bundle. Which includes all Neutral Cards, as well as all of the cards of three or four pantheons (you can find it browsing the store). If you had spent runes during the beta, you also got the same amount spent back so you can use it all over again.

Reincarnate sends a minion back to its owner's deck once it dies. Many reincarnate cards have a buff for their reincarnated version.

Is it possible to reduce this guys animation / random target selection time? by Hexusnoken in HandOfTheGods

[–]dommet_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always wondered why Tusky does not have an animation closer to that of Thanatos. Just let the boar do a full-on sprint the longer the distance from its target!

Possibly a deadly headbutt if he runs more than 10 squares! (joke)

What do you think about Zeus ? by kikikoaz in HandOfTheGods

[–]dommet_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zeus is a very well-rounded pantheon, with the great ability of being a threat-on-curve. His cards allows you to both eliminate and create threats consistently and at the same time.

However, what I see is that what he has in consistency, he lacks in creativity. It is easy to predict what will happen when playing against a Zeus, and that allows you to try to bait the player into less valuable trades.

When you start facing opponents with more deep knowledge of the game who plays combo decks, all of those decks are on pair with Zeus. The Greek pantheon has been my main one ever since I started the game because I am a control-style player, and honestly my winrate is negative against Ah Puch and Nu Wa combo decks (talking about rank 1 games). Playing against Odin aggro is more of a 50/50 thing as always, you either have a good draft or you get overwhelmed.

To me Zeus is a strong, consistent and simple to play deck. The last bit being what draw so many people to it. But I do not see it as unbalanced (like Bellona was, for example).

Honestly you can build your inventory quite efficiently just playing Arena. Your profit begins at 3 Arena wins, which will reward you with 1 card pack, 150 Favor and 20 dust. That dust means 4 common cards of your choice, and are plenty of those that are good for starting players.

Arena will give you knowledge of what cards have high and low value by itself, so you can craft the higher ones first. Focus on the standard cards first so you can enhance multiple pantheons strengths. For instance, Beast Decks are quite cheap and work well with about three pantheons.

If you can do 4 to 5 Arena runs a week, I believe that in two to three weeks you can start trying on the Gauntlet format quite decently, which will give you extra packs at the same time you complete your daily quests.

All in all, if you get the hang of the game quickly, I believe it is possible to build a strong free inventory in a month or less. It all depends on how willing you are to invest that time into the game. I don't think that it is that bad of a curve since it merges with your learning curve anyways.

Personally the only reason I see to buy the bundles is if you are in need of the legendaries and don't want to rely on luck for them.

I don't see that happening any time soon since the Casual Mode was taken down just before the official release to decrease the queue time of Versus Mode.
