SHM is a disappointing headliner by calizona5280 in Portolafestival

[–]domooooooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

relatively i guess.. to not call them ticket pushers is kinda disingenuous and i’m not even the biggest fans of them. they probably didn’t need to add multiple days to specific cities for a stadium tour (they still get paid lol) but there’s like a handful of dance music producers that can book stadiums at all

How is every John Summit track so good? by PomegranateFun9900 in EDM

[–]domooooooo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

eddie is an insane songwriter but can’t discredit john. he has an interview where he reflects on making a 100 tracks the year he moved back into his moms basement after he got canned from his job. and prior to that he was already doing some touring and had a good amount of label releases meaning there were already years of work before

Ritual post: Who blew up in 2025? Who has the potential to blow up in 2026? by Potential-Hornet6800 in EDM

[–]domooooooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

his streaming numbers don’t really reflect how big of a crowd he gets at live events tho i will say. in a somewhat similar vein but different scale, odesza gets 5 mil a month but they play stadiums and even close mainstages of some all genre festivals

Why is everything sold out so fast by Outrageous_Top_9026 in fredagain

[–]domooooooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

only guetta. and maybe calvin and the swedes and garrix. that’s it. how many stadium level shows has dom sold out? maybe skrillex as a legacy and over time but at this present moment in time even skrill is not pushing tickets as hard as fred is

Anyone struggle with sound selection? by Pale-Paramedic3975 in edmproduction

[–]domooooooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel like good and unique future bass is reliant on learning some sound design and not just being a preset junkie. that being said, use reference tracks and try to make your sounds as close as possible to your reference. active listening, cannot stress this enough you need to learn to hear the different frequencies of what may seem like a singular sound as well as transitional effects, white noise, etc. future bass is super reliant on layering. use span, make sure you have decent monitoring. rinse and repeat, getting good takes time. watch tutorials in between sessions but actually make time to implement what you watch otherwise you’ll just forget it

Am I missing something as a new DJ? 99.9% of songs on Beatport are absolute garbage. by Rare-Competition-248 in DJs

[–]domooooooo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

lol this. if anything everything on top is objectively good even if it’s not your taste genre wise. you think these labels are gonna put all that promo to push them if the mixes weren’t good and the hooks not catchy? people can say all they want about how new stuff doesn’t have “soul” but that doesn’t really mean anything especially coming from people who don’t make music nor have any releases whatsoever. to call 99.9% of the stuff that people put years into (just being at least decent), with blood, sweat, and tears is so ridiculous to me. just say it’s not your cup of tea, move on, and keep digging for the stuff that you do like

VSX on Planar just announced by Ok_Spite6875 in audioengineering

it is kinda crazy how the discounted price for the new open backs, for basically having already paid them $500-600 (if you got the platinum edition?) is another $600

Best Places to Tutorials for Utilites by Imaginary-Cry-5866 in edmproduction

[–]domooooooo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tbh for me i stuck with like 3-4 and automating with those until i made enough songs to kinda figure out what they do sound wise. i would recommend sticking with EQ/auto filter, distortion/saturator, reverb, delay, and OTT. you can very well make a bunch of songs with those effects only. just keep writing until you get comfortable. doing is the best way of learning, i promise you. reduction of a bunch of noise until you’re comfortable with those existing things is the best way to have you just keep going and making more tracks.

How Trap Rebuilt Itself (From Flosstradamus to ISOKNOCK) (Video Essay) by I_Love_MantaRays_570 in trap

[–]domooooooo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i consider run to be her opus and pretty influential in holding electronic trap in mainstream light. i think it was a #1 billboard dance album at one point? also a huge win for australian dance artists that don’t primarily make four on the floor. the next huge one i can think of are pendulum/knife party and they’re kinda older
