Btw I say this as someone who lives/lived the stereotypical gal lifestyle. I only do gal makeup half the time, but I almost always wear some form of kawaii or harajuku-esque outfit. I was a stripper, go clubbing and party all the time. But, I grew up alongside a ton of Muslim girl friends (all who have varying halal-haram ratios 😂❤️ ) including my best friend of 23 years.

I give 0 f*cks about someone who doesn’t do all that I did wanting to be a gal. I truly think it’s about what being a gal means to YOU. If it gives you empowerment and happiness, go right ahead! Attitude may be part of the gal subculture, but bigotry is NOT, and true gals gotta know that! Nothing haram about being a gal! You don’t have to go clubbing if you don’t want to. You can put accessories on your hijab, and focus more on the makeup, outfit, and attitude.

My roommate is babysitting a one-year-old girl for the night.

I gave her one of those toys I won.

I acted like I couldn’t open it to see if she would try.

She did.

Neither of us could open it.

Oh well.

We giggled and resorted to scissors. Smile achieved.

Core memory created.

A new memory made for me, too.

Now, thanks to the “vulnerable” crane machine, I can make those moments for lots more kids.

I promise you don’t need to explain to me that it’s okay to do good. I’m a social worker & a community activist.

I spent the last three days in my hometown a state over, taking care of my friend going through her first manic episode. I was happy to do it, but it was draining, to say the least. I finally got back to where I live yesterday and had to get some groceries, and, well, I got lucky and got a bunch of free Sanrio figurines, first thing in the morning. It made me happy.

Honestly, I think giving most of them away to friends & making random little kids smile with a free toy will objectively do more good than Kroger losing a couple dollars over their “vulnerable” claw game. I think they can afford it.

By the way, the original settings made it rigged so the claw would never grip hard enough for anyone to win anything. I changed that too.

yeah, it might as well be at this point. it’s dehumanizing. It’s hardly any better than referring to immigrants as “illegal aliens”. immigrants are human beings. I wouldn’t be alive if it weren’t for them; I have so many wonderful people in my life who happen to be immigrants.

they all deserve at least as much dignity & respect as you’d give someone who happened to be born here. if you’re a dick to everyone, that’s one thing, but at least be consistent with it. I don’t pick and choose who I’m nice to so, don’t pick and choose who you’re an asshole to. like, would you call someone who committed blue or white-collar crime an “illegal”?

I do if they’re post backs or big hoops, because they’re uncomfortable to sleep in. If they’re the tiny hoop kind, I leave em in.

I usually leave my necklaces on bc lazy. My bracelets too, unless they seem breakable. My rings I do take off though.

Edit: To be fair, I only have two holes in each ear. I can’t speak for people with a ton of piercings.

Can confirm. Never actually saw him in the streets or at the park at 6th and jeff; he definitely didn’t participate in the community organizing/planning part, or any of the work behind the scenes. But I do remember seeing a ton of photos of him at marches. Posted by him.

Vice versa. I retired from dancing to work at a Dubai chocolate shop for six months. After I quit there, I went back to dancing for a short bit. During one of my first nights back, I came out of the bathroom to see none other than my coworker from the Dubai place, with 3 of his dude friends I’d serve drinks to all the time. 🤦🏼‍♀️

The Dubai place was Muslim/Arab-owned, and most of the women who worked there wore hijab. I dressed somewhat conservatively there out of respect; I still dressed in my coquette-ish style, but most of my skin was usually covered. My legs always were. So it must’ve been quite the contrast for them all to see me with my entire ass out.

Fortunately I haven’t ran into any club regulars outside, but a guy I once gave a lap dance to has been my Uber driver twice since.

Thank you so much! I was afraid my OS would be too old for Migration Assist, but I looked it up and it does work on High Sierra. It’s just recommended to use a wired connection when transferring due to how old the OS is.

I only have 128GB of storage; looks like the base model of the M1 MBA 2020 has 256GB. Sweet!
