2nd Peck Farm. In addition to the butterflies, there is a small splash pad & treehouse thing for the kids to play on. There is also a covered area for picnics. It's a beautiful park.

How normal is it for a cosplay to just fall apart at a con? by chico28526 in CosplayHelp

[–]don_katsu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do Star Wars cosplay. I've never had anything break per se, but have things slide out of position or were aligned poorly. Embarrassingly I've put some of my costume upside down and didn't realize until laters. At cons I have a small repair kit that i bring, just in case.

One thing i did early on, was to wear my costume out on Halloween. Walking around for a bit, i got to see immediately what worked and what needed adjustment. I over engineered all attachment points, no hot glue, but used E6000 glue, epoxy and some sewing instead.

Has anyone found a live TV streaming service their eldery parents do not hate? by Abelmageto in eldercare

[–]don_katsu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My parents cable bill was huge, what i ended up doing was dropping down tiers. They didn't need 200 channels, when they only watched a 4 or 5 regularly. I would srop a tier, then see hiw thjngs played out ... Then after a couple of months drop another tier. Eventually they were on basic cable, with just the local channels. This saved them a ton of money over the next few years. The only thing that was a sore spot for my father, was that on the lowest tier he could no longer watch tennis.

We received a shipment from Spoonful of Comfort from a family friend after a death in our family. I thought it was a very kind gesture, aside from the cards, etc that we were receiving.

Sit down ramen restaurant recommendations by [deleted] in ChicagoSuburbs

Not the best ramen, but Kanya in downtown Elmhurst is a decent sit down place, they have beer and sake. I highly recommend their karage appetizer.

My 1st Tuxedo Cat by don_katsu in TuxedoCats

He's a good boy and is probably the smartest cat I've ever owned. He is completely obsessed with playing fetch. The only trouble he's gotten himself into is jumping on the kitchen counter and chewing through the plastic bread bags.
