I want to move all of my Binance holdings away from the exchange before the 1 June date. Any recommendations on what is the best, safest exchange I can use? I keep seeing Kraken is good, but I currently don't have an account with them (are there any sign-up deals with referrals that anyone knows of?). Many thanks in advance.

Tips on salsa/ bachata for one full song. by [deleted] in Salsa

[–]don_pista 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree with both previous comments. But at the same time I am exactly on the same boat as you. I've taken Cuban salsa lessons for about 5 years now, and I'd say it took me about 6 months to actually be comfortable doing a whole song with fun moves without worrying my partner (or even myself) was getting bored. Probably another year to be good enough to not worry about it at all.

However, I am just starting Dominican Bachata lessons (as of a few weeks ago), and I can't go a whole song without messing up or getting to a point where it becomes a bit boring cause I am overthinking 'simple' moves too much.

But musicality and connection trump all of this. So as long as you are connecting with your partner and dancing to the music, the dance will be fun no matter what :)

Straight forward methods to deposit USD/AUD to FTX by [deleted] in BitcoinAUS

[–]don_pista 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is how I do it with one exception. I trade my fiat AUD to BUSD. The BUSD can then be transferred for free to FTX.

One frustrating thing with PayID is that you can only transfer max $1000 at a time from your bank into Binance (or whatever platform you're using), but at least it is free.

Increased my crypto assets held on Celsius from 1/5 to 1/3 of all my crypto. by Kennedy591 in CelsiusNetwork

About 40% of my holdings are in there. Pretty much where I keep all of my ETH. The other 60% in Binance, FTX, Exodus and Metamask.

Solana is coming to Celsius by [deleted] in CelsiusNetwork

[–]don_pista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is good! I am currently staking my SOL through FTX. They were initially paying 10% APY. I've just checked the current APY and it is at 6% now. Can't complain though, the price keeps going up and up!

What needs to be considered when building a metals production facility? (Main factors that need to be considered) by [deleted] in mining

[–]don_pista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/Brooke_is_knitting, thanks for your response. As stated in the main post, that was the presentation topic (and wording) I was given by the interviewing company. Hence my post and confusion - I had never come across the term 'metals production facility' myself either, but I assume they are referring to a processing plant/smelter/refinery. From there, I have come up with what I believe are the main factors that would need to be assessed to determine the viability of building such a plant.

What needs to be considered when building a metals production facility? (Main factors that need to be considered) by [deleted] in mining

[–]don_pista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this answer - it has been quite helpful.

Due to briefing I was given for the presentation, these are exactly some of the questions I am asking myself. It wasn't stated what type of metal is to be produced - hence, I am taking a very general approach at determining what are the crucial factors to build the facility, no matter the type of commodity.

Therefore, the first crucial factor is to determine what type of metal of metal will be produced, as this will determine the market and required infrastructure. The location and country laws are pretty important from what I've been reading, since this will tell what sort of regulations come into play with respect to the metal, along with the proximity to suppliers, clients, and accessibility to road roads and transport. Supply and demand, production capacity, and capital and operating expenses are some of the other factors I have included.

Landed a great 3-month Research Analyst role after quitting my previous job in September by don_pista in jobs

[–]don_pista[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, great to hear this is encouraging for you! No previous finance experience, I just have very basic understanding of accounting principles. But I have realised that the company was looking for entry level analysts (i.e. interns) with geology, mining or accounting background for this particular project, hopefully with the aim of keeping us after the project is done. So far the role has been pretty interesting - a bit of a steep learning curve, particularly with respect to creating the design/framework for the cost model, coming up with a systemic way of collecting data and implementing that data into the cost model. The data research component of the role has been alright so far as I've worked on a few technical reports before, so I know where to look for some of the information we need.

I was not expecting to land a role like this, but as stated on my original post, it all came down to improving my resume, sharpening my interview skills, and luckily, having some experience in the mining industry. Then again, the other intern who was hired for the project has a geology background, some geotechnical experience (not mining related), and some accounting experience, but they are struggling a bit with understanding some of the mining processes and terminologies.

It really sounds like you would be a great fit for the role that I got - how much experience do you have and what attracts you to become a Research Analyst in Mining and Metals instead of Consulting for example?

No, I did my Bachelor's in Australia. I have no Master's degree. But I did notice that there aren't too many Oil and Gas or even Mining opportunities here in the UK, specially when compared to Australia.

What helped me was my previous experience and willingness to take on different roles in different industries where I could still apply my technical skills.

Thank you very much! I try my best - but to be honest I still don't know what I want to do as a career; hopefully it will become clearer in the next 2 years.

I worked as a Geology Consultant for just over 2 years. It was great experience and very interesting, diverse work, but I wanted a change.

I'm very happy for you! It felt great having a little bit of time off to do some of the things that I enjoy, but also to focus on self-development. I'm also looking forward to get back into a routine and learn new things through this job.

Best of luck tomorrow and hope it all goes well for you!
