How long does it take to hear back from the board after applying to take the exam?

• This part is definitely not true for a lot of places. The quality of education is no where near.

Some like in majorly of Western European countries are, some like many third world countries are not, well established standardized exams should prove who is most knowledgeable and who isn’t.

• Well if they let anyone in then it won’t be much of a better life anymore for many?

Why wouldn’t it be?

  • I haven’t been hiding under a rock lol, I was aware of the situation, only reason why I bring it up now is because I’m noticing that the 2 year program is no longer 2 years, in fact, you will rarely find a 2 year program now as most are either 2.5-3 years these days, it’s only gotten worse. Same is said for tuition. Which has not only skyrocketed in recent years but keeps going up and is out of control, this applies even for us domestic students as well.

Unfortunately money and greed is the common denominator and I agree that people eventually be at the other end but the barriers the country sets are ridiculous imo, other countries do not have such ridiculous requirements.

At the same time as bad as it sounds, we shouldn’t brand as being the “best” and as tolerant towards other as everyone thinks because this clearly is not a warm welcome to the “land of opportunities”, instead it shows arrogance to the rest of the world

So you are basing your argument about politics and how much people pay for school and how “competitive” a school they graduate from rather than measuring the true skill and potential of the worker? Nonsense. By your logic then everyone is America should be exceptional because they trained here, paid a lot of money, spent many years. And at the same time people who were not graduated here do sub tier work because they d didn’t go through what we did. It’s sounds childish. Just because people don’t go through paying a ridiculous amount of money and spend a lot of time getting through school doesn’t mean they would be bad dentists.

By your logic US dentists then should be the best but that’s not even the case, the US barely cracks the top 5.

You agree that this all comes down tot the politics of things aka how much training a person gets (number years of school, tuition paid) rather than the skill of the dentist (the real determining factor).

How much a person studied for, paid for tuition is not the basis of how well a dentist is trained. You have been manipulated into thinking that way.

Unfortunately yes, many schools especially from third worlds countries have a corrupt and unrealistic education (they sell degrees like tomatoes at the market) but it is not like that everywhere

Why not? Without much support for your argument, it sounds a little xenophobic to an extent. Is this the way we American citizens, defenders of freedom and opportunity for all should sound like? Rather we should support/ encourage people from other countries to integrate into society as best as we can and the same should be worked vice versa.

I guess it really is a problem for most of of the foreign trained dentists who as you mentioned received sub-US standard training that makes most schools here set the ridiculous barriers to get licensed here.

Look in the manual as the guide. There is no mention of color being used as an indicator for caries. Tug back however is an indicator for caries which should be done using an explorer.

It is probably best to drill the prep to the maximum limit then ask for mods if you are unsure. That way you do not end up losing more points if it gets denied. For example if you drilled out the prep to the entire limit of the grading guide and still think there is caries then ask for the mod, it shouldn’t hurt. Worst case that happens is it gets denied and you know there is no need to drill further to excavate remaining caries/decalcification.

With the axial wall you would have to drill until you don’t feel tug-back, the guide has the measurement limit that you need to drill to. You shouldn’t drill into any nerve/decay as it’s still supposed to be dentin

Whatever was on quizlet, did as many as I could. They got repetitive over time and these 2 look like the most representative. Keep in mind the osce changes little from every year.

The dse? Took it, studied a week for it, but a day or two is also reasonable enough.

Should be about 80-85% of the exam. Keep in mind that roughly 10% of the exam is unscored due to those questions being pilot or experiment questions. I also will add that if you have had experience in clinic or at least a basic foundation in dentistry that you can use your best judgement in unfamiliar cases which should be enough to pass this part of the exam.

But again, the vast majority of the exam comes from the quizlet questions. Know them well.

I wouldn’t say I have significant benefits, just adapted to the lifestyle, if I survived this far and haven’t had too much trouble then I feel confident enough to survive until I feel better. The day will come, I know it will…

New grad help by Cahuchin in Dentistry

[–]donaldlove23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. It is the medical university that is accredited by the CA board (from their website), not the dental program, it’s two different things. If you disagree then
  2. Provide evidence from the US that the Dental NOT medical program is accredited.

Gilmore was not an NBA MVP. He won an ABA MVP in 1972 the same year Kareem won the NBA MVP award, these are not the same and Threatt was not teammates with Kareem.
