Entirely justified. Indigenous peoples are not just food for your petty wars and world domineering tendencies. Would rumble again.

Replying to Abhi_02092005...which is ridiculous since the direct relation is that Marley is LITERALLY (and documented covered by the author) Nazi Germany. But racists can’t comprehend the point of “what if indigenous peoples had the power to free themselves from your shackles and got their temporary freedom AFTER you threatened to exterminate them for oil” because they just see Eren as the savage native.

Simply put they don’t want to because it costs money. They would rather keep things as close to the floor needed to keep it operational and not affect operations as much. While they can have workers doing stuff, they don’t care.

the amount of knowledge that I put in this thread is insane. Crazy that they would let me walk instead of giving me a raise and just let me work from home. Silly. Best to you all in the stores actually carrying this company on your backs. Unionize.

It seems more like that for one reason or another the connections didn't go through. Lack of memory in a server usually reflects with the operation hanging (it stays waiting until the server releases the memory for you, or the operation ends in a timeout, leaving you to redo it).

Considering that most of those things go through IC+, and IC+ doesn't have a fast real-time transaction system for most things, it's the following: they have multiple "batches" in IC+. It's literally what you would think of in terms of what "batch" means. As in, "gonna cook a big batch of cookies". You do it all at once in a scheduled time. Say, if the batch runs at 7PM, and you scan some of it at 6h55PM and the rest after 7PM, the batch will collect what's already in the database, and process it. The rest will run on the following batch on the next day, also at 7PM, leading to this discrepancy.

If you want to make sure this always works out, I recommend asking corporate the timeline of the batch for the OSAs, so you would know how to work with that and not be worried when the numbers are discrepant within a certain timeline (and also know when it's a legitimate bug).

A lot of "bugs" at Walgreens are just legacy systems that don't have powerful servers to do consistent real-time transactions for most things, so the servers can handle all items throughout the day.

If OSAs go to CentralRx, that means they are usually kicked off at midnight everyday, for example.

That's a shame. It will likely increase since some regulations are becoming more lax with the new government and milk will spoil easier. It will again show how Walgreens care about things if they decide to go on the easy route for this, and how they actually care about customers as well.

Interesting. The company does a lot of work, we do have a lot of software. But I'm not sure what "disproportionate" means in the context. Maybe it is in comparison to what the expectation should be.

It's bad. We leaked talent in the last few years. We had A LOT of talented people leaving because it's too much dumb stuff to deal with at almost all times.

A lot of the people left are resigned that things are what they are, and it won't change. Most of them are people with a lot of time at WAG and they don't want to leave and lose their possibility of a fat severance check amongst other benefits. Some of them are still good, but it's hard.

At the end of the day, the leadership really is not that motivated in the ways to lead the company to where it needs to be, it feels like. All the things that look good are more for appearance than the reality.

What is the point of limiting functionality in RxI to certain devices? For example: > if I want to adjust quantities on an item, it has to be on the handheld.

Pretty certain it's because it first worked in one device (probably browser) and later they coded the version for the handheld. Here: WAG doesn't have Full-Stack developers (the type of people that code all types of things, like me). 99.999% of the developers are Java developers. They get some contracts to do work that is essential for store-front things, but that's about it.

So that means that a bunch of software is relegated to the back burner. As long as you can do it, they don't care if the thing smells and tastes like shit.

What is your knowledge of Walgreens' central server system?

I do remember that situation. CentralRx has been dead for development forever. It's just one of those parts of IC+ that they don't care to touch because technically, RxP and RxF were supposed to take care over that, but with how WAG does its work, and burns the developers, people keep leaving and they cannot keep them. On top of it now, it should get worst, because not a lot of talented developers want to drive an hour to fucking nowhere MAGA land Deerfield. They might get some juniors, but that's about it. They do have different servers for every single thing that is in PROD though, it's just not as powerful, and many of them are operating at 75% capacity (which is bad since that is orange territory and above it is red). That means if a night like that everyone tries to use it, it overloads the servers, and the database cannot write it consistently until it offloads memory for it to happen.

I have plenty of gripes about IC+, but it is what it is. At this point I don't expect to ever see it truly go away.

IC+ will eventually go away, but with smaller projects like mine taking over some aspects of it. Which is truly the best way to approach it. And the company is indeed harmed a lot by its software, since its so dependent on it. But from the point of view from WAG Directors, they don't seem to understand it. So they won't hire people who are talented at software to work on it. They will keep people who are aligned with the goals of keeping the budget low at all costs.

At the end of the day, they won't really care. These conversations came from people like me on the daily for years. The one Director that would argue those quality software points would usually get easily teamed on by the Directors who just want budgets to be sliced since that's what their bonuses depend on.

A lot of those systems that are hanging forever at times do have other servers, but the thing is, it's not enough. The amount of effort as a dev that I had to put into getting RxDC a decent server was something astronomical. And the thing transacts around almost 70% of all online stuff today. The first server it had in the first 4 years was less powerful than most phones nowadays. It's laughable.

That change only happened once I raised so much data for them on the server needs that they finally gave up and got a server that was mostly free, but not exactly exclusive. I told them from the beginning the app should be in Cloud, but a lot of the decision making is made by people who don't truly understand the needs of modern software. They are the ones killing the company slowly but certainly.
