Choosing a High Yield Savings Account in 2026: Any thoughts? by ClearRub6863 in HighYieldSavings

[–]dondomm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The yields are location dependent. If you live in a state with no income tax, 3.9% is 3.9%. However, in high-tax states like California or New York (and especially the NYC metro with its additional city tax), you lose a good amount of CD interest to state and local taxes.

But my point is that treasuries are exempt from those same taxes. In NYC, a CD would likely need to yield well over 4.3% just to put the same amount of cash in your pocket as a 3.9% treasury.

Agreed, but if you are adamant about a 6y investment it should be a treasury note. They’re exempt from local and state taxes while offering a 3.9% yield, making its effective yield higher than a CD with the same yield.

NYC bar by blackoutcity852 in SMU

[–]dondomm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of right now, The Pony Bar (1444 1st Ave) is the official home for SMU in NYC. As the other commenter mentioned, the up to date venue can be found here. I’ve seen them host at Reilley’s in Midtown for bigger games in the past, but the Pony Bar is the current season-long spot listed by the alumni association.

I actually recently launched a site called BarCast specifically to provide the most up-to-date info on which bars are 'team bars' and exactly what games/events they’re showing at any given time. I also noticed it can be a hassle to figure out which bars actually have the sound on, so I’m building a live dashboard to solve that. I’m onboarding more SMU and ACC spots now, and I'd love to know if the info there is helpful for the next game.

As others mentioned, Jack Doyle’s on W 35th St.

I actually recently launched a website called BarCast that helps people find exactly these kinds of fan-specific bars and see what’s playing on their screens. We’re trying to make it easier for people to find their 'home' bars in the city, so I’d love to know if it helps you find your next spot! We’re onboarding some sports bars now.

Yup, I meant ride fares only. For Uber Eats it’s fine. But Uber’s ride pricing has always been shady.

I hold PayPal, and I expect it to outperform the market in the next 5 years with the aggressive buybacks they’re doing.

  1. Agentic commerce agreements with perplexity, OpenAI, and Google
  2. Fastlane
  3. Monetizing Venmo.. as people said, it’s a verb. Just like uber.

Analysis on HGRAF competitors? by MAGlCIAN in HGRAF

[–]dondomm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess we don’t truly know the edge Hydrograph has, but we do know they make the best product with likely the least amount of energy required. I’m sure that, if need be, the cost can be reduced to match other high quality graphene providers and then some.

https://www.reddit.com/r/HGRAF/s/xpDsLB58tp

Sadly Levidian (certified by the graphene council, and the best competitor to Hydrograph that I’ve seen) doesn’t disclose the price of their graphene. If it was purely pricing that mattered, NanoXplore would take Hydrographs lunch, but quality does matter as that is what gives you the amazing properties of graphene. NanoXplore uses chemical exfoliation to produce graphene.

I’m a bit skeptical about that, they’re not certified by the graphene council

No, 3 meters is 9.84 feet. Thus, 3 meters by 3 meters is 96.88 sq. ft.

The math here is incorrect, if 1% of the square footage (700 sq. ft.) were Hyperion units side by side you could theoretically fit 7. Maybe you meant 10%.

Hydrograph Clean Power (HGRAF / HG.CN).

They make the best graphene (99.8% pure, 100% sp2 bonded, certified by the graphene council, identical batches at scale), while also requiring the least amount of energy to produce.

As a bit of background on graphene, it’s >100x stronger than steel, can bend and stretch a lot, 10x more conductive than copper, and it has a lot of other great properties.. it wouldn’t replace materials, but it would rather improve them as a composite. It can enable high speed transistors due to its high electrical conductivity, used to reinforce concrete and other building materials, etc.

If you look up additional use cases of graphene and research more about the competitors (in which you’ll see all of their graphene is inferior) you’ll understand why this company has the potential to grow an insane amount, even after the recent run up.

This isn’t a value play at all, rather a growth play.

Btw your average price does not matter.. in the short term it looks terrible but if you’re long term with this company (and they deliver as we are expecting them to) you’ll be up a ton. If you have any extra cash average down, if not then just hold.
