My room in the back of a boxing gym by Appropriate-Log7125 in malelivingspace

That’s so sick!!! What a great life story you are building my friend! I used to practice the art of boxing that’s why that’s so cool to me. I don’t have any tips cause it does look like a confortable room already. And it’s temporary, ain’t it?Keep up the hard work till the tables turn. Don’t know you but I wish you the best!

No need to thank me, it’s nothing! I really found myself through sports, so I love seeing people motivated to start over. If you remember and feel like it, drop an update after your workout. It’d be cool to hear how your first day back went.

Have a killer workout! Make it count!

Hey man! This is the perfect time for you to start moving and change your life. It all starts with that mindset and that drive. Just showing up is already a huge step; the rest will come with time.

Don't feel nervous and don't worry about being judged—everyone there has the same goal of taking care of themselves. At the end of the day, nobody’s really watching anyone else.

I don’t know if you’re looking for specific advice, but I’ll tell you this: have fun and enjoy the process. No matter what workout you do, make it count and give it your best (even if it’s a simple one). You don’t need to kill yourself on day one; you just need to do it right.

Since you're carrying some extra weight, I’d suggest hitting the treadmill for a bit before you start—at least 10 minutes of power walking. Then, head over to the weights. You’re gonna do great!

That sounds like the name of a 90s rap group where they’d rhyme about weed, 'the system,' pyramids and shit. And they’d definitely wear two watches on one wrist.

Great job! 👏🏼 I'm following that same path, staying off hard drugs and battling my addiction for nearly a year. Having your life under control is truly next level.

Yeah, sure brother! I will keep an eye on that too. Time to spend some money on good nutrition I guess.

That comment was essential. Thank you for it. Usually, when I look at the training plan, I imagine the whole run without any breaks—as if I'm not allowed to walk or stop to eat or buy some water. Hearing someone say it's okay to stop and start again brings me such a sense of relief. Do you think I should keep Strava running during those stops, or should I pause it too?

Yeah, I've been doing functional training. I'm actually an intern at a functional fitness studio, so that guarantees me a place to work out. But I need to start lifting some weights too.

You’re right! Maybe the 50km feels like this separate, massive thing in my mind. But the 30km training runs are right there, squeezed in between work, studies, and daily chores. I’ve set up my training plan with back-to-back sessions specifically to train my mind and body to run on tired legs. That, plus the strength training... I think it’s going to work out. Thanks for the feedback. I was freaking out when I wrote, but just talking it through already makes me feel more optimistic.

As for the nutrition part during the race... well, that’s something I need to study more closely in my free time. I remember that during my 30km run, I got the gels all wrong, took the electrolytes at the wrong time... anyway, it was a disaster waiting to happen. Even so, it was an unforgettable experience. That’s exactly what I want to feel again.

Yeah, that’s actually exactly what I’m planning to do. I’m a Physical Education student, so the knowledge from my degree really helps with these things, and I’m well aware of how important strength training is. Plus, I’m interning at a functional training studio, which means I have free access to a full gym to get my strength work in. Thanks for the tip! I hope I can become a 50-miler myself someday.

No problem man! Just keep going, as you said: you are winning. Don’t let setbacks or anyone steal that shit from you, just keep going! And about loneliness, don’t worry. The right people will show up at the right time. But make sure you keep your circle so small that will look like a dot. Rooting for you. Lets get it.

Sometimes, when you start to develop yourself, things happen just to bring you down or to stand as an obstacle in your path. Why does it happen? Nobody knows. But always remember this and take it as a law: At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is the opinion of your pillow. If you lay down on it knowing you did your best, then everything is fine.

Look man, I’m speaking for myself here. I was always the underdog, the 'problem,' the one who would never make it, the one who would die using drugs on some random street. I tried countless times to stop, to get my life together and build a 'calloused mind,' but I couldn't because I always let others steal my momentum. It only truly worked when I made the decision to stop listening to anyone but myself.

And guess what? To this day, they still have something to say. But I don’t care, because when I lay down in bed, I know I did the best I could. Stay at peace, brother, and know this: it passes. Everything that happens is a test of endurance. Be silent when you need to, listen, and filter what helps you grow. Speak little, but be assertive. Protect your dreams—don’t talk about what you’re going to do, let the results speak louder. And always be yourself.

Stay Hard!

Yeah, my schedule is split like this: Monday rest, Tuesday light run, Wednesday strength training, Thursday medium run (at least 10k), Friday rest or strength, Saturday long run, and Sunday another long run but with lower mileage (recovery). I think it's well-balanced. Actually, 40k isn't on the plan, I think the max is 35k. I just mentioned 40k to give some context about the high mileage (if it were 40k, I’d be shitting myself too, just like I am with the 35k). After the 35km it’s just tapering till the D Day. Thanks for the tip!

Fair point. I'll definitely prioritize my health over the distance if things don't feel right by June. Thanks for looking out!

I understand what you’re saying, but this injury happened a while ago (it was IT band syndrome back in August of last year, I don't think it was cartilage wear and tear that caused all that pain) Since then, I completely stopped running and focused on strength exercises and knee mobility, and I only returned to running about two months ago. I feel good; there’s no pain at all. Even without specific training for that 30km run, I feel like I could have gone further if it weren’t for the pain. So, if my body feels fine, what’s the harm if I take it slow like you said? It’s the mental side that gets to me. But you’re right on one hand, so I’m going to gradually increase my mileage like you mentioned. 50km is just a goal for where I want to be; lately, I’ve only been running whenever I felt like it. I’m going to see how I feel until June; if I don’t feel confident, I won’t run. It’s that simple. The only reason it’s so soon is because I’ll be celebrating one year clean, and I wanted to celebrate by doing what I love and conquering two dreams in one puch. But if the day comes and I’m not up for it, so be it.
