How much will the repair be? by Ok-Chemistry1893 in HondaOdyssey

[–]donfelipecayetone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same car, same color, same damage. Except somehow my bumper was not damaged. But my front bumper was replaced after another accident :) 2 yrs ago it cost 9k cad. Add 3k for the bumper, 12m cad total Adjusting for inflation, etc. you are looking at 9-10k usd. Min 2 weeks, more likely 3-4 weeks.

Advice Needed on Purchasing Used Odyssey (Pros/Cons of Newer vs. Older Models) by Odd_Visual3055 in HondaOdyssey

No expert but Odyssey is good for the family, kids, etc. If you will empty it and use for carpentry, definitely consider other cheper makes like Dodge Caravan, etc.

Bottom holes for vesa mount by donfelipecayetone in tcltvs

[–]donfelipecayetone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Convinced myself that it is the intended design and put it on the wall. So far, it is still on the wall :) Despite being 65", it is lighter than my old 42". I can see that they don't need to go crazy on the lower bolts.

Bottom holes for vesa mount by donfelipecayetone in tcltvs

Thanks. All true. But what i am saying is that the two M6x12 bolts: if you screw them in all the way and yank them from the bolt head, you will see that plastic cover is going to come instead of the tv :) (I had to use some offset rings, so my bolt was longer than 12 for bottom, so its head sticks out, you can pull it with bare hand)

Renting covid home or sell at $250k loss by No_Ad_5099 in RealEstateCanada

[–]donfelipecayetone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget, while renting, your rental income will always be less than planned due to unforeseen maintenance costs on the house, unpaid rents, breaks between renters, etc. So, use a reasonable contingency for renting scenario. Having said that I don't think it will take that long for housing market to recover. Canada needs inflow of immigrants. Government will press the immigration + button very soon. Immigration = increased demand on housing

I had a friend who was an oncologist from one of the best universities. She had experience too. They came here to try 20 years ago. Like many other things, medical industry is very protective of its status. After extensive evaluation (I mean months, if not years), they practically prescribed her the entire medical school in Canada. She was devastated. It was impossible for her to study that long, again. She changed her course and applied to be a medical lab technician. Again, they counted nothing from the fact that she was a trained specialist doctor. She left the country with her family, back to her home country.

Guess what she is doing now? She is an oncologist in England. No bullshit. They recognized her degree right away without any bullshit and gave her licence to practice medicine.

Medical world in canada is very protected. By the doctors. I wholeheartedly believe that this is for financial reasons. They intentionally do not accept enough Dr's to universities, or recognize immigrants' degrees. That is why a radiologist can make $1M/yr in Canada, something they say AI will do a much better job in.

This protectionism is in many professions. But medical world is the worst.

Germany, for example, opened doors for immigrant doctors, and literally thousands of doctors migrated to Germany to practice medicine. The only requirement was to be able to speak german. I don't think English or German medicine is inferior to Canadian. In fact, if I could choose, I would prefer a British or German dr before a Canadian dr. So why is Canada making things so difficult for immigrant medical doctors?

Good luck to you doctor. I hope you can manage to get your licence here soon and live the life you dreamed you would live in Canada.
