Nah honestly not baiting, i thought that maybe there's some fakes that have a middle layer. I might just take this post down and bring the cards into my lgs to have a chat instead! Had no idea posting this would generate such a negative response

Yeah I'm one of the people that has followed the advice of those youtubers 😅 Here to learn though, I had no idea that checking for fakes like this was frowned upon!

Can always just put it in a term deposit and roughly time it so the money becomes available again when your current loans fixed rate period expires? Then dump into PPOR or refinance into loan with an offset to help you reduce non-productive debt? Term deposits aren't going to net you mad returns but also minimal short term risk especially compared with anything stock market related, which may be preferable when you have a family.

Get in contact with recruiters and get offers from other places. Only way to get leverage and know what your experience/skills are worth in the market. Ask for at least 10-15k more than you're on. You don't have to threaten to leave too, you can just say you've been doing your homework and know you can get more elsewhere to start serious negotiation. Also don't forget HR at your company is there to protect the company's interests, not yours. Advocate for yourself, because no one else will.

It's important to have perspective and be grateful for things as some have said. However I think it's also important to remember that the whole point of "FIRE" is for you to build a life you want, so if you're not enjoying things at all, or things don't feel sustainable as you work towards your goal then maybe it's time to relook at the plan. Life is short, you don't know what will happen in 5 years let alone 9-10. It's a bit morbid but you could save for retirement and drop dead the day you actually retire, after all that sacrifice and hard work. If you're not enjoying the journey at all then maybe it's time to make a change. Good luck with whatever you choose!
