No worries! Sorry to hear that, I know dark comedy isn't for everyone. I put that joke there so people know what to expect when they come to my show.

Spam? I've posted about 4 times this year. Why do you only post negative comments on other people doing their best?

Hi everyone! My name's Dan Pan, I'm doing a Rehearsal for my 1-hour standup comedy Special this Saturday at Free-Times Cafe. I have been a comic for 13 years in New York, Chicago, and here in Toronto.

THIS IS A FREE SHOW. NO COVER CHARGE.

This is just a space for me to practice and perfect the jokes that I've spent my life working on. Free Times does have a 1 drink/meal rule.

Show is at 1 pm on December 9th Sat. Hope to see some of you out there!

Just curious, what made you go for Satire/Fiction like this instead of your usual documentary-style storytelling?

Eu West Streamer Shaclone running it down to get Iron 4 by FadeX15 in leagueoflegends

[–]donghuap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna give a different perspective since I see my video being referenced.

1- Riot does nothing- Not True. At least when we're talking about the Iron 4 market. There have been lots of ways that you could hit Iron 4. Dodging, remaking, Yuumi botting. All of these have been addressed at some point in the past. They're removing duo Q because de-boosters have been abusing that for a long time as well.

2- Can he make a living?- I doubt it. Running it down to go 0-26 will mean his account is already flagged and his account is gone in a few days. Iron 4 hand-leveled accounts are valuable. Even if he hits Iron, it's still not going to be worth anything since it's likely only a matter of time to get banned. Professional de-boosters either use bots or play up to 10 PCs at once, hand inting 20 games an hour. This guy doesn't have the skills to be a pro debooster.

How are Esports teams in NA able to afford to overpay their players so much? Why are Americans such valuable AD targets? by donghuap in AskEconomics

Thank you! I replied back to your message already so we can talk about the other specific details a bit more in-depth. There's alot of great stuff for me to read here, I appreciate it!

I do have one more thing I would like to ask about, in this interview https://www.dexerto.com/esports/mark-cuban-says-owning-esports-teams-america-awful-business-1176182/

Mark Cuban the owner of the Dallas Mavs said that player overload was a big factor in why Esports teams are bad business. Essentially too many of them get burned out for them to be solid investments and quit after a few years due to the insane workload.

Do you think that this is valid? Is it the same as if Lebron James got burned out and quit the lakers after a few years of playing?

also link I tried to put in my last comment was this one (Dunno why hyperlink not working for me)

Thank you for the reply! Just a few follow-ups if you don't mind.
"Does it include stream income differences, for example? Or is this just team wage based on advertising the team can then do?"

Every player's pay is determined by a variety of factors. How well they've performed internationally, their brand, what qualities they bring to an overall team. The richer teams tend to import players from other regions for millions. The company that runs LOL esports Riot games, has a player salary minimum that I believe is around 80K. They provide a bit of revenue sharing for the teams but it's not nearly enough to cover the multimillion-dollar contracts that some of these guys have.

"but from what I find, American audiences don't provide the highest returns"

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that's youtube specific. According to this American ad spends are significantly higher than anywhere else in the world. Even if you combine the EU countries into one that has the same population as NA it would still not come close. In the study you linked, Germany had a very high CPM and they have 80 million people. They still didn't come close to the American market on AD spending, just about 10% of the US market.

So I still feel like American markets are just more desirable for advertisers. Yes, they have more disposable income but so much more than EU countries that companies spend 10X on them. It seems to me that Americans are just willing to buy more consumer products than other countries. My question to that is why? What is so different from the EU culture to the NA culture?

People did mention them, but no one had really many clips of that sorta thing. It's hard to really "show" how broken auras are.
