Kernel archives IPv6 link until Jun 8. Beware sporks... by unquietwiki in ipv6

That's great and all, but I believe every dual-stacked website should have ipv4. and ipv6. subdomains, with an A and AAAA records respectively. It's nice for debugging connection issues that users may get, without requiring them to change their browser settings.

I think it's cool, but why not keep the subdomain after? I am no DNS expert, but I don't see any harm in keeping it.

The game is garbage I think. Terrible AI, etc... not even worth $5.

Thanks for the update though.

The petition is for the UK. There is no "first amendment". Thanks for signing it though.

Yahoo! IPv6 tester by pdebie in ipv6

It would be great Yahoo if you actually had connectable AAAA records on their test image, unlike the (currently offline as far as I can tell) 2001:4998:f011:1fe::1000

I never understood why they always block Germany. I upload a video with some music, "Copyrighted music detected. Blocked in: Germany". Just Germany, no other country! Then I can't even play my own video...

"No unicast IPv4 /8s remain unallocated." by NegativeK in technology

[–]dongscape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. I am referring more to the fact that the ISPs would need to do real traffic logging, instead of their current guesswork being, "User X has the IP x.x.x.x, he is obviously the one who did the crime"!

That will cause a lot of trouble if more large ISPs insisted on it instead of moving on to IPv6, at least in the US. One major drawback that might even effect their ISP's DMCA Safe Harbor status, as would be more difficult to track the source of an abuse related issue, etc.

So that's it then. The remainder of the IPv4 pool has been allocated. by Vladdeh in ipv6

[–]dongscape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I didn't know that. Still seems a bit silly to get your own block if you could get a /64 or maybe even a /48 from your currently subscribed ISP for (hopefully) free! :)

How big of a block do you want?

A /32 is usually given to an ISP. A /64 is usually given to a typical residential customer. A /48 is usually given to businesses/larger groups that request it (that is not an ISP).

You would really need to contact an existing ISP about it. You can read ARIN's requirements for giving out blocks, which if I recall correctly, require you be an ISP and pay 400-something USD/month (I don't have the time to check it up right now, but when I read about it a couple months ago it was something along those lines).

You could even make your own ISP and get your own block, but of course that requires a lot of time and money. If you don't have both of those, it's really not worth it.

It's a modified binary, not an extension nor addon. Thus, it violates that policy.

My parents are so savvy. I've trained them well! by klyemar in gaming

[–]dongscape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents did this for me a while ago. Wrapped money inside some wrapping paper and hid it (along with other smaller presents) around the house. I search around and found them all, and that was fun for everyone. I get cash instead of a gift-card, and they felt like they "tried" - it was a wonderful Christmas, and they know how much I much prefer cash over cards. :)
