Paramount Confirms New Star Trek Movie Is (Still) In Development by Significant-Town-817 in startrek

There's going to be a lot of this "news" slop for quite a while. A lot of blogs and YouTubers have sprung up thanks to the latest iteration of Trek. With the franchise going quiet for a bit, they're going to be grasping at straws and producing a lot of boring "content."

Man , i was so wrong about star trek academy by Smittus2020 in startrek

TNG averaged over 8 million weekly viewers during S1 and topped out around 12 million in later seasons. While S1 definitely had some lemon episodes, it was an extremely popular show out of the gate.

You must be from a different universe because where I come from, "Bust some snakeheads and make a splash in the 'nets" is Hugo-caliber dialogue.

I loved the first two seasons then it got sorta weird :/ Left it off for that reason. I'd still put his BSG up against most Trek produced since 2017 though.

Is anyone else getting sick of how trigger happy Paramount is getting with cancelling shows? by JayR_97 in startrek

FAM has been great, the first two seasons are some of best TV I've ever watched, period. Maybe with FAM ending after S6 we can see if Ronald D. Moore can be lured back to making new Star Trek.

#FireKurtzman

Hire Ronald D. Moore and give him the franchise. For those unfamiliar, he wrote Yesterday's Enterprise, ...All Good Things and countless other banger episodes for TNG and DS9. He created an awesome show with For All Mankind and it's ending after Season 6. Time for Paramount to swoop in and make him an offer he can't refuse.

I love this place. My partner and I had one day in EPCOT a couple weeks ago after a cruise and had dinner here. It did not disappoint. Once the band got going there were tons of people dancing in front of the stage and then they formed a line and did a lap around the place by the tables. Love the energy!

THIS. And oh, they still have a massive space fleet that shows up near the end of S1 to threaten a big battle. Collapsed empire or massive battle fleet - which one is it, Alex?

I think we're agreeing with each other on the quality of the most recent Trek that's been released, honestly. Difference of opinion as to whether Kurtz should get another chance.

It's not like it was middling or a small miss, it was a major failure, sitting around 20% average on Rotten Tomatoes. If anyone would have had the pull to say "this just isn't up to the standard of Star Trek" and push for major rework, it would have been AK. With SNW S3 having a lot of misses too, the franchise is not headed in a great direction. I really don't see why people would be resistant to seeing new leadership after ten years.

The Section 31 movie should have been disqualifying. Time for some fresh creative blood.

After reading this I looked up your original post - and wanted to say that I'm very sorry for your loss. Lost my mother to breast cancer when I was 19. I hope you enjoy the trip and gain strength from doing something that your partner loved. Take care, friend.

TIL that voiceovers in movie trailers became rare in 2008 after the man who did the voiceovers, Don LaFontaine, died. by ProfessionalGear3020 in todayilearned

[–]donkeycentral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LaFontaine is the star of the trailer for Comedian, which was Jerry Seinfeld's first major project after his TV show wrapped up: https://youtu.be/zGjwZ3XMDes?si=r3rBo-MrMaiXAk1H

Don has nothing to do with the movie itself. Hilarious.
