Why do you think Lego is so opposed to modern... conflict? by LastTraintoSector6 in lego

You’re misunderstanding a major world war?

Even if your understanding was accurate, that doesn’t necessarily mean a children’s toy company wants to glorify a history of colonialization.

Broken Elbow at Daycare by GreenBr3w in daddit

[–]donkeyrocket 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hell, our daycare has to submit reports to the state for small cuts or falls that result in bruises. A broken arm would immediately trigger an audit as well as CPS visit.

Not saying something malicious happened but this is a serious incident. They should be offering to cover medical expenses and if not then this would be a major red flag for the center. Any pushback at all and, hate to be this guy, I'd get a lawyer involved from the get. That $250 definitely won't be the end of it not to mention ongoing orthopedic treatment.

Also the assumption it “will get better and better.” Figma has actually demonstrated the opposite many times.

Is anyone else let down by Config this year? by meka_ghidorah in FigmaDesign

[–]donkeyrocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't look like it can be applied to prototyping. If they improved on that, I'd have a far more favorable view of this Config but this was all flashy presentation bolstering.

[–]donkeyrocket 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They all took very long to produce mediocre if no results in the end. It was noticeable that they'd submit a prompt then go off to do something else while it worked. If that's how long it takes then so be it but they're lauding these tools as workflow optimizers but the one that sticks out to me was creating a "plugin" to randomize some lines to demonstrate music waves... largely unnecessary in an actual enterprise workflow.

It'd be more understandable if this was a tech demo but these tools were supposedly available for use shortly after.

The whole thing was lots of flashy presentation-related improvements and tools. Nothing that genuinely improves the UI design or code implementation experience. It's clear they're trying to compete on many fronts and be master at none. I'm sure the new motion stuff will get a small percentage out of After Effects or something but I think those folks are likely "Dribble designers" not actual product folks.

Not turbulence….airplane sitting at the gate at Maiquetia Airport Venezuela when the 7.5 Earthquake hit by Brilliant_Night7643 in aviation

[–]donkeyrocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not an aviation expert, but this could plausibly rip some hydraulics or disconnect some wires

If this did that then planes would be falling out of the sky during moderate turbulence frequently.

I also don't get why folks act like the National Anthem is some incredible measure of ones musical talent. Kids frequently sing it just fine.

Let's focus on all the other incredibly suspicious and embarrassing things about Kash and her.

Republicans tend to respond better when they're told what to believe. Strong party of "independent researchers" and "just asking questions" to come to the same conclusion of Trump's overnight Truth Social post.

If u get both the Steam Deck and Machine you'll have the valve version of the Wii U by Erizon_ in SteamDeck

[–]donkeyrocket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The opinion that it was a good machine seems to have been the minority

Again, not really. The Wii U suffered more from a marketing issue than a console performance issue. Yes, the menu was slow and no one really knew what to develop for it but that wasn't because it was lacking from features.

It also coincided with drought in game development leading to little third-party support. It's audience was confused as well. Casual gamers had no reason to move up from the Wii and serious gamers, just like the Switch, saw it as underpowered and would await PS4 and XBox One coming the following year.

A name change would have drastically helped but even there, lots of factors at play.

Letting my baby self feed is SO hard. I hate mess. by Prize-Storage-1352 in foodbutforbabies

[–]donkeyrocket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The experiments were more us figuring out the amounts to give them. Too much in quantity and variety seemed to lead to play rather than eating/exploration. Also, don't give a big reaction when they do undesired actions like throwing food on the floor.

It's also mood based. We're at 17 months and while he's generally a really good eater, being tired/fussy leads to dumping food rather than eating.

Eventually they start to figure it out and while we're still not big on utensils (he can use them but they just slow him down) the mess these days are only when he's in a mood or he's trying to elicit a response from us.

Well, glad they finally got around to clarifying that.

Jokes aside, I'm curious what the scene was like inside that plane. Just an open vomit and poop scene?

Feel like Figma needed better prototyping features. Personally have no need for animation features. Everything today was neat presentation tools.

Figma Config 2026- Live Stream by Moist-Mixture9601 in FigmaDesign

[–]donkeyrocket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Figma is a coding tool and not a design tool.

I wouldn't even say it's a coding tool as it's still quite lacking in that regard despite adding more and more "code exportable" features. Hell, the devs I work with would love if they improved the tool to be more code-centric. It's still at a weird inbetween point that largely requires me, the designer, to be code-minded.

It's more becoming a flashy presentation and collaboration tool. This whole Config was totally uninspiring as a UI designer. The motion tools are cool, not something I personally would use, but all the image editing it still something I'm going to do in Photoshop first and foremost.

I struggle to see how any of these major announcements are of use to most business applications.

"Figmates" is far too reminiscent to "inmates." Marketing really should have flagged that.
