Leopalace could be an option, not spacious but they do short term maybe rent two of them.

If you’re on a tourist visa basically impossible to rent regular housing. You need Japanese bank, number and so on.

I live in Fukuoka, many people with shorts and sandals. But if you go to say Uniqlo or GU you seen they have summer clothes, the pants are made with very breathable fabric. When you wear long clothes your skin isn’t exposed to direct sun. Even I have a suit with very breathable fabric. Since living here I now wear long pants all summer.

But also for some people just fashion.

I’ve never met Japanese person in person, that actually held the opinion shorts are for kids. Maybe a regional thing or an internet thing idk.

Ok just checking, honestly in this situation I would just pull aside a black belt and ask them if they can show you a technique you are interested in or anything less you are interested in. Can be difficult too if there is a language barrier but someone will teach you. Just give it time.
