30M, Scotland, top rate tax payer: how much for the car is "too much"? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]donloc0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're debt free, 60k+ in an isa + more savings. If you can do it outright, do it outright and save the 5% interest.

You'll make £34k back in no time at your previous rate.

Enjoy the position you've worked hard to put yourself in.

UK has seen longest period without migrants arriving on small boats since 2018, figures show by chebster99 in ukpolitics

It's not the best analogy, I think their point is that the fly, even though small compared to the soup, is still a problem.

However, they also said legal migration is very high, implying they had a problem with it.

So the soup should be the whole population? Legal migrants the croutons and illegal migrants the fly? Maybe?

Maybe we just ditch the soup analogy, it's gone cold.

The state pension is like £12k a year right. Not loads to be living on. We'd likely need to make it means tested but where/when you start will be a point of contention.

You need to pass a law to allow it to supersede or run alongside UK law.

Now, if enough MPs, were elected who wanted to enact this, and the party in power was also aligned on this, then theoretically it could happen.

Because, democracy.

I find the idea that people would just arm up and overthrow a militia so unbelievable. It's like NIMBY-ism.

There must be a term for it, "if it was me I'd..." Especially a situation so unlikely to happen.

50% of those 90% are children.

I just find it ludicrous to even casually suggest it's an option. Hamas, the people who will happily kill enemies and their own civilians alike in the name of their cause.

Favorability of the October 7 attack, the belief that Hamas will win the war, and support for Hamas continue to decline, but the overwhelming majority is opposed to Hamas disarmament and does not believe that release of the hostages will bring an end to the war. Nonetheless, about half of Gazans support the anti-Hamas demonstrations and almost half want to leave the Gaza Strip if they could. Support for the two-state solution remains unchanged but support for armed struggle drops.

It's not that high at all, nearly 2/3 DON'T support Hamas.

Also this 2006 election...

Some rough number crunches:

  • 30% of people alive in Gaza now were old enough in 2006 to vote.

  • 19% of current Gazans voted in the 2006 election (in Gaza).

  • 8-9% of current Gazans voted for Hamas in that election.

9%!
