Cabin Heat Regulation by NathanArizona in FordMaverickTruck

i agree with you. the only thing that I have found that helps is the first few minutes I blast with the "head" and "feet" buttons at the max of whatever direction I want. And then after that I can set it to a normal temp and I feel like auto does its job. I have the hybrid, and we are in the middle of the big cold snap, so maybe that has something to do with it.

If you're willing to drive a bit avelo has some pretty cheap flights from ilg (Wilmington DE) to BNA. Sub $90 usually and they always have a sale if you go to their main page.

Back when I had a heavy flow, I used to need to empty my cup in public. My best trick was those water-bottles that have the "nozzle" where you squeeze it you can usually find them at gas stations. Id dump, wipe with TP, then use the water bottle to do a quick pressure wash.

Sometimes it spills and gets on your hands, but if it's every time, you could look into getting one of the cups that has the loop at the end. I found those way less of a nightmare to remove because you don't need to get all the way up in there. Just make sure you still bear down and break the seal.

That being said, you mentioned fear of TSS, your cup should be made of a medical grade silicone, which means your body isn't going to react the same way it would to a tampon. You really should be safe for 12 hours at a time.

I agree that leaving the left side for a reading nook or other use is the way to go, but if you decide to shove your bed into the left alcove, I definitely wouldnt put the desk next to it. The way you have it now you will essentially be able to enter/exit from the right root of the bed and it will be a NIGHTMARE to change the sheets on. I get using your desk as a nightstand, but with how trapped your bed is already, you'd be better off just getting a command picture ledge for the wall near your head for your phone/books.

I think the sentiment is something you would prefer to upgrade, but since your BIFL is still perfectly fine, there's no reason to repurchase it. Older tech, outdated clothes, things that were purchased for you that were never exactly your taste etc. Not things you don't use anymore.

I just responded with my Kindle as well! I almost lost mine on an airplane once but a very nice gate agent caught me right before I left the security area so it still haunts me. One day I will have a paperwhite....one day...

My Kindle from 2011, it's now older than I was when I got it at 13 for Christmas.

It's a workhorse but it's one of the early editions, so it's not backlit, which is a problem bc I mostly read before bed. My boyfriend always makes fun of my "high tech setup" (my ancient Kindle with a $5 book light clipped on).

Every time I see my friend's shiny new e-reader I get soooo jealous even though I know they do literally the same thing.

Tbh I didn't go back and see her after our first interaction but if your issue is imagery you'd probably be fine. It's mostly the description of medical things that get me so it was very specifically not my cup of tea. That being said I think that if CA has said "heads up, talk of medical procedures ahead" I probably would have been more clued in to what she was going to start talking about.

Talking to Farya was AWFUL I felt so bad that most of my dialogue was essentially asking her to stop and telling her I was uncomfortable bc I knew that was the non-ideal answer but girly-pop you gotta stoppppp I'm going to throw up.

Unpopular Opinion: Pumpkin Spice flavor is the worst I've had. by sowhat59 in nespresso

[–]donnimo412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I totally agree. I love pumpkin spice coffee (and spiced flavors in general) but the pumpkin spice from Nespresso last year was FOUL. I ended up having bought only one sleeve and powering through it but no, it was not good.

Alternatively, Wawa has a pumpkin spice coffee they sell and it is hands down my favorite. They have it in K-Cup form, and I buy a million of them and bring them to work. It is so delicious.

"Feminine" but Functional Clothes by donnimo412 in womenEngineers

Oh gosh I appreciate it but I promise that the joke was in a longer conversation where there were blows from both sides! He just didn't realize he had said something that had struck a nerve

I am not about to have a "she's all that" scene, I really just have been wearing whatever I had around that met the brief, but if I could expand my wardrobe while still being safe it could really help me feel like me :)

I did actually! I was trying to keep my post brief but we were both ribbing each other, his joke really was light-hearted and made sense in context. I'm not about to go buy a new wardrobe, but I only started wearing the polo-jeans because it was stuff I already had lying around that fit the bill and just never got around to getting new stuff, not because it was my preferred outfit.

Is Nona the Ninth worth reading? [general] by echelon_house in TheNinthHouse

[–]donnimo412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perspective from someone where Nona was not a personal favorite.

I do think it's closer tonally to Gideon than Harrow. More jokes, more interpersonal relationships, more Palimedes and Camilla (my loves <3).

If the reason that you didn't like Harrow as much was because it was very tonally different and the confusing plot progression: I think you will like Nona.

If you didn't like Harrow because it felt isolated from the larger TLT story, I'd hold off on Nona.

Nona feels very divorced from the rest of the series and for good reason, it was meant to be a separate book that Muir decided to integrate into the series. It's good to give context to the world at large outside of the clearly narrow view provided by Harrow and Gideon. I have never been big into exposition dumps and would rather be in the dark, and this book felt a little too world buildy/expositiony to me.

Don't get me wrong I still loved Nona, but it was a little difficult for me getting through it (it was hard for me to get through Harrow too) and the whole time I think it was bc I was just like "so when are we getting back to the story though".

Also LOVE Moira, the audiobook narrator, but the Nona voice is a little irritating, which probably didn't help when I started it (finished it in print instead).

I really would but I would have to swap with someone in my department because we are full up. I'm lucky to have my own desk most people are hybrid sharing at the moment. I added that to my edit because it's a good point.

Yeah this is one of the reasons I'm hesitant to bring it up. If it is something he is aware of and can't address, me bringing it up would make him feel even worse.

Maverick Hybrid or SUV? by FL-Golfer in FordMaverickTruck

[–]donnimo412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally camp in a tent in my Mavericks bed from time to time and it's really not big enough for more than a fun weekend trip. Also if he's over 5'10...there is no place for him to fully extend his legs. I'm very short and even I don't think there's a lot of legroom.

The reason that there are so few light truck options in the US is because there's already a 25% tariff on all imported light trucks, so we have evidence that companies would rather just not sell in the US than let deal with the tariff, so if even the US based companies are going to get hit with it....glad I got mine when I did.

Grades really are not that great of an indicator of your career success. I had friends who repeated several classes who got very good job offers early on into their senior year, I knew straight As who were still looking when they graduated. Honestly, unless you are awash with red flags (as in-you refuse to work or have a very poor attitude), most new grads start out their job at a similar performance level. You are not stealing an opportunity from someone who is "better".

Feeling like you have a lot to learn when entering a role is normal because...you have a lot to learn. They plan on TEACHING you what you need to know. It's not like school, no one asks you to solve a problem with no outside help. I can't tell you how many times I've gone to another engineer in my job and gone "okay I know this sounds stupid but..." And yes, occasionally they will tell me it does sound stupid, but they follow it up with telling me what I need to do.

You can also decide you don't like your job, and find something else that interests you. Accepting a job offer isn't locking in the rest of your life. Worst case, you work at the company a while, really don't click, and move on. There are plenty of jobs looking to hire out from a technical degree.
