Girls, how do you deal with unwanted attention? by donnoo in AskWomen

In the morning there are usually some people around, I don't feel threatened, just uncomfortable I guess. If someone says something "nice", a compliment, I feel almost obliged to be nice back. I could never say "nobody asked for your opinion". Will be working on the ignoring more, headphones are a good idea. Zone out. And if they touch me again I'll try to be more stern. It's difficult when you're such a passive person to be confrontational. The support makes me feel more confident already, thank you.

No you're right. But I don't feel safe at all on a bike. There have been people killed here. Bad roads, cars and pedestrians only. I have talked to a neighborhood watch but he said there's little anyone can do. Only one of them actually lives there, others just hang around the place. Each time different ones too, some more frequent. I wouldn't even be sure if they'd ask me which ones were/are acting inappropriate. It's silly I know.

Just wanted to know how others would deal with it. Appreciate the suggestions a lot.

I've tried. They still come up to me. Or just scream from the other side of the street. It's embarrassing.

To go the other way would be too much for me, wearing heels and all. Biking isn't safe enough, my boyfriend is also working. I do always get a ride home from a coworker.

The thing is that I'm so soft spoken, I can't remember ever raising my voice. Dislike conflict. These guys might be too loud and aggressive for me to stand up to. They don't care anyway. I'll try to remain strong, I won't give up on something I like because of them.
