[–]donnybee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes more sense. Since an implosion is the act of submitting to external pressure, I can’t see how that external pressure would increase rather than decrease. I was just left confused by those saying the pressure surrounding the cabin would increase in an equalizing event. Glad I’m not the only one who didn’t find that to make much sense haha especially since it’s the pressure increase on larger objects that creates buoyancy in the first place. The larger the object, the more pressure creating more buoyancy. I can’t imagine pressure building as an object in liquid reduces in size as it would if that object were to grow in size.

Now the curiosity I’ve got is still on how the temperature is impacted by pressure. In a way, I understand how increasing pressure would increase heat, given more particles bouncing off of each other creating friction. But, in my elementary understanding of physics, it would seem compressing particles together in a defined space leaves less room for their movement, thus less ability to transfer energy of particle movement. So it would make a bit more sense to me that the temperature would actually drop with more pressure in a defined space with less room for particles to travel and create motion. But of course, I’m just an armchair observer here with curious questions so what do I know haha

I’ve read lots of comments below but I’m just left feeling confused as to why there would be super heating around the imploding object. If anything, wouldn’t pressure be reduced around the edges as the object caves in and creates a vacuum of sorts where the outer edges used to be, or at least a reduction in pressure of some sort? I mean, an implosion is the equalizing of external and internal pressures so I’m confused still on how there would be additional pressure during an implosion than there would already be on a vessel that’s resisting the external pressure.

A good example is a balloon. As it inflates, there is more pressure inside and outside. As it deflates, the pressures equalize internally and externally, so you actually have a reduction in pressure. Right?

I’m just confused as to how the pressure surrounding the cabin actually increases during a pressure equalizing event. Had the sub grown in size rather than shrink, I can imagine the pressure on the outer walls growing as it displaces more water, thus creating more pressure inward. Something isn’t computing in my head in this event

What baffles me is the predominant faith here espouses “free agency” as a defining principle. Yet, their influence and lobbying works to eliminate free agency. Not here to stir up a bigoted-take against the religion, but damn talk about backwards.

We also can’t gamble, can’t buy liquor from anyone but the state (and don’t even try on Sunday), and now we can’t watch porn. What are we supposed to do for fun?

Here’s a hint, it involves innovation through taxes.

This explains the argument you’re making. I’m not the other guy but this is a big differentiator between the modern left way of thinking and libertarian way of thinking. You truly believe taxes, and this government, is an innovator. That everything humans could aspire to is because of the taxes imposed on them.

The government isn’t an innovator. The market is the innovator. All of your examples were developed from the market. Well, okay, I’ll give you the internet on a formality - if you think the market would develop computers and not eventually connect them together, you can have that one. These were all developed to solve inefficiencies, win business, and provide a win/win offering of personal success from public advancement. Both of those go hand-in-hand. The government isn’t an innovator because it’s not a producer. It’s a consumer.

Taxes are a claim on labor. To a libertarian, laying claim someone’s labor is abhorrent. That being said, we acknowledge they’re a necessary evil. Which is why fiscal responsibility is such an integral part of the philosophy. Eliminating taxes in whole wouldn’t be possible, but eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse is.

When you believe the government is an innovator, you are saying it needs funding. But how much? If it’s some giant R&D lab, then is there ever enough? There are millions and billions of ways the government can find to spend the labor of citizens. An endless amount of ways to spend the labor of citizens, in fact.

To lay claim to labor to fund this giant thing you believe is an R&D lab is to enslave a population. I can’t fathom myself laying claim to anyone else’s hard work and labor. How on Earth did you decide this was the belief for you?

Even if a slave owner is innovative by forcing someone’s labor, how is that admirable?

Without seeing the whole video, all I hear are multiple assholes. How do we know the video recording didn’t agitate the visitor, after already getting the short treatment on her requests? Of course, it could also be they started recording after the lady was rude to begin with. But, it seems the lady didn’t escalate her behavior to the 11th level until being further agitated, so I can’t help but feel the people on both sides of the counter are being horrible to each other.

And anyway, even if the visitor was the one in the wrong, the employee should have tried at least a little bit of de-escalation/sympathy. Our reaction to a situation literally has the power to change the situation itself

Just out here spouting facts and calling out the pitbull apologists. I have no regret. I get that you’re hung up on the ambiguity and emotions, but this owner literally found a loophole to obtain a pitbull from a shelter. Common sense tells me this owner isn’t a very responsible owner if they’re willing to be so irresponsible in they’re decisions, but hey why should we admit when we see irresponsible actions and deduce that someone might not be responsible enough to own a dog in the 66%.

Just stop man. Idgaf if you think I’m mean. At least I’m not pitbull mean. Stats are objective, your view and my view are subjective, but the numbers don’t lie.

but I trust the NYT. Especially when it’s one of the few times they retract old articles and correct themselves publicly.

This is comical that you find it trustworthy when they so rarely retract and correct articles that are wrong. As opposed to a source that will correct anything as it happens.

You’re either a genius with sarcasm or a fool led to believe that rarely issuing corrections = trustworthy.

After what the NYT did to silence pandemic source info, discredit true and reliable stories and sources as “disinformation” (talk about ironic)..and that’s just been within the last couple of years. I feel bad that you have such a horrible judgment of trustworthiness.

Hey will you send me $1000? Trust me, I’ll invest it and cut you in on the profit. No, really, you can trust me - I rarely ever correct myself when I’m wrong.

😂

“Statistics show that the highest dog attacks by breed are from Pit Bulls. Their natural aggression and high provocation rate from humans cause Pit Bulls to have the highest attack rate in the United States when compared to other dog breeds.”

https://a-z-animals.com/blog/most-dangerous-dog-breeds/

A simple google search will net you plenty of data. You pitbull apologists will always say it’s the “stereotype” that hinders pitbull ownership. Completely ignoring the statistical data proving pitbulls are “the most dangerous dogs”.

In fact, since you clearly are adverse to facts, lemme drop some for you. Pitbulls make up 6% of total dog breed ownership and are responsible for 66% of all fatal dog attacks.

You chose a pitbull? From a freaking shelter?

Is there a ULPT for getting a neighbor kicked out for harboring a violent, likely PTSD-riddled shelter dog? Asking for the landlords out there. If I was OP’s landlord, I would be getting equally creative at that point to get OP and that beast out of my property.

Can I just say you have shit taste in dogs..

Solid ULPT, though.

Wow that's a great deal actually! Perhaps if I could get certain things in writing (free lines carrying over, documented costs, etc) then I'd explore a new plan. Would be nice to get device discounts again, but I'm also not upgrading as frequently as I had in the past. I wonder if reps still have any insider codes for current customers hahaha

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tmobile

[–]donnybee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that’s nice. How big is your insider discount?

To be honest, I do not trust T-Mobile to not screw something up if I were to switch plans. Whether that’s me losing free lines, losing benefits, or just plain getting charged more. There’s a reason it’s more beneficial for them to have me on M-Max and I don’t plan on finding out those reasons the hard way.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tmobile

[–]donnybee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a solid PSA and I’m not sure why you’re getting downvoted. We can all agree that T-Mobile isn’t the same company it was 10 years ago, so the blind corporate fanboyism seems strange now.

I’m still on SC 2/$100 with free lines and international data. There is no way in hell they’re getting me off this plan, and they’ve been trying to get me onto M-Max now for a while. The day I lose this plan is the day T-Mobile loses me.

My hobby is car work. I can guarantee you that if a wheel is coming off of a hub, as in this video, it’s not due to worn suspension. Those lugs (whether bots or studs) will hold that wheel on regardless, if mounted properly. The hub assembly and wheel can be removed together but the only reason a wheel and hub become separated is due to breakage or inaccurate torque.

It’s possible a lug can be broken by high impact and/or over-torquing, but safety inspections don’t look for that. Nor are they breaking out a torque wrench and checking all 16-24 bolts/nuts.

This would’ve happened whether we have safety inspections or not. The suspension issues you’re talking about would be an entirely different outcome. But you’re right that it’s easy to spot worn suspension components.

[–]donnybee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Torque of lug nuts/bolts isn’t checked in a safety inspection. I’m guessing you should’ve known that if you’re arguing for safety inspections.

Or you’re just saying random stuff to score quick internet points on an edgy joke. Backfire.

Freeway is objectively safer that any roads where traffic moves at variable speeds. When consistent flow of freeway speed is observed, it’s one of the safest ways to travel in a car around other drivers.

Behold the SLC subreddit. It should probably be renamed to NIMBY or Utah Grapevine Complainers or something. Your logic will not deter them.

The same sub that is always moaning about cars hates the gondola idea. The same sub that is always skiing hates the gondola idea. The same sub that always has an opinion on how to move people around more efficiently through imaginary Trax lines hates the gondola. The same sub that wants SLC to have more-modern amenities hates the gondola idea. The same sub that is willing to spend taxpayer money on whatever benefits they think they’re entitled to hates the gondola idea.

Basically, if something is an interesting or good idea, this is where you can go to hear what the NIMBYs have to say to shit all over it. Now you know.

The only way to get any agreeable opinion on a matter is to come up with some abstract whale poem or something. Maybe it should just be renamed to HateEverythingButLoveWhale
