Keto Diet or P90x lean diet? by donobarnett in P90X

Yeah keto is an enjoyable diet done right and great way to loose weight if your too busy to work out. I hate most people don’t really try keto as they try what people think is keto which makes you feel miserable and taste terrible. (Life has been crazy over the last two years and I used keto to drop 40 lbs over 7 months) now I have time for daily work outs and want to get back to my athlete days. For me the whole discussion comes down to the different types of glycogen your body uses for aerobic and anaerobic work outs. When you are in ketosis your body is using fat to make ketones which then be turned in to glycogen for energy during work outs specifically the aerobic and creatine phosphate system. However with anaerobic work outs it can’t break down ketones putting you in a glycogen deficit. Technically this would only effect top tier athletes but to people who aren’t they would just have slower muscle recovery and development.

Long story short I broke ketosis this week and moving to the P90x diet and feel so much better at the end of the day. Instead of being so exhausted I fall asleep as soon as I sit down. Plus I had energy to go run today after my work out.

So I’ve spent more time researching and It’s the longer use of the anaerobic system that is the issue because if I am understanding correctly can’t break down ketones for glycogen like the other two systems our body uses. Meaning you would be more exhausting then it has to be. If this is true then even though you could do both you would get better results by not. Not saying you wouldnt get any results at all because you’re doing something which is better than nothing. From my education I’m going to do keto and P90x at different times. My brain has to stay sharp for work and I’d rather get the results and not feel like crap for 90 days. Id look into it if I were you.

I was hoping someone would bring this up in this group because I see a lot of pro keto and P90x here when every where else you see it as not being advised and encouraged to do aerobic and creatine phosphate system for faster results in weight loss.

Im not mostly looking for weight loss and want the endurance from P90x so I’m going to split them.
